We are looking for an Associate Scientist to work in the Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability function as part of our Personal Health Care (PHC) Global Product Stewardship organisation. This role will be based in our Reading Innovation Centre, an inspiring centre of excellence that delivers R&D innovations for the Global markets.
You will join a team of environmental scientists passionate about exposure assessment of consumer and personal care product ingredients that leverage laboratory, field, and modelling capabilities.
Key responsibilities:
1. Provide critical contributions to the global multifunctional Global Healthcare Sustainability Team, providing science-based perspective on our sustainability strategy and action plan.
2. Guide and support PHC business categories, new technologies and innovation initiatives.
3. Support our sustainability strategy through product and raw material assessments and life cycle assessments.
4. Build and maintain technical capability in key environmental expertise areas such as environmental risk assessment, fate and effects assessments, including internal and external evaluations of pharmaceutical ingredients in the environment.
5. Improving expertise to publish and educate, facilitating internal training/upskilling and external activities that build and protect corporate reputation and enable responsible growth and innovation.

Job Qualifications
What We Look For:
1. BSc or an MSc in environmental engineering or closely related field (with or without post-graduate experience) with in-depth knowledge in the assessment of environmental fate of chemicals in the environment. We also accept applications from other candidates with strong experience in a relevant field.
2. Proven understanding in allied fields such as environmental chemistry and toxicology, fate and exposure, modelling, and analytical chemistry is beneficial.
3. Chemical and biological laboratory experience with particular focus on evaluating the fate of chemicals in the environment. Experience in aspects of biodegradation testing and sorption analysis would be highly desirable.
4. Leadership experience in using environmental science expertise for sophisticated environmental risk assessment of chemicals in an industrial, government, and/or academic setting.
5. Strong communication and partnership skills to enable flawless collaboration with customers and collaborators inside and outside of P&G.
