This post is part of the Chief Operating Officer Directorate. The purpose of the COO Directorate is to lead on operational performance and improvement for the South East Region including:
• monitoring performance against annual operating plans and constitutional standards
• delivering bespoke improvement support to systems via the virtual improvement hub to optimise their overall performance and reduce unwarranted clinical variation
• leading the co-ordination of regional operational planning and assurance
• supporting the delivery of effective and efficient use of resources across the health service
A key part of the COO Directorate is the Regional Data and Analytics team. This team works across all Directorates in the region, with individual responsibilities flexing according to regional priorities. The roles being recruited to, may cover any of the following areas: Primary Care, Public Health, Population Health and Community. However, the role may flex with business needs, potentially covering other programme areas such as urgent and emergency care or planned care.
As an AnalyticalSupportOfficer, you willwork as part ofa teamdeliveringa high-quality data analytics service to regional colleagues.Youwill build upon existingtechnical skills in statistics, data management, business intelligence and analytics.
Example projects include:
• supporting public health and primary care colleagues withregular reportingto help with monitoring andassurance ofdelivery
• bespoke analysis to understand the true performance of the NHS andidentifyareas of good orpoor performance.
• developing new indicators to monitorperformance, this can involve working with policy leads, commissioners, providers, and other organisations toidentify, create and test indicators.
The team is developing technical skills to build and share reproducible code and further enhance our suite of automated analytical products.

The successful candidate will gain valuable experience in project managementas well as transferrable technical skills inextraction,interpretationand visualisation of data.Our staff have a team base in Premier House in Reading and Wellington House in London. However, individual bases are varied, and weoperatewith a flexible working policy with most of the teamadopting ahybrid remote workingapproach.Team members are expected towork froman office2 days a week (or 40% equivalent in-person), in line with organisational policies.
