The Role As an Assistant Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in the day-to-day management of our projects. Assisting in optimising project profitability and cash flow, youll be involved in various aspects of surveying, including assisting with subcontractor selection, managing subcontractor accounts, preparing valuations and contributing to financial reporting. Youll build strong relationships with clients, design teams and the supply chain, working collaboratively across teams to support teamwork and ensure compliance with both business-related and health and safety regulations. Additionally, you will: - Assist with tenders and procurement processes - Provide general administrative support to the site commercial team - Assist in the management of project risks and opportunities About You To be considered as our Assistant Surveyor, you will need to demonstrate: - Qualifications appropriate to the role - Understanding and appreciation of achieving the best value outcome - Ability to utilise past knowledge and experience to minimise risks and maximise opportunities - Basic ability to read construction and pre-construction programmes - An appreciation of the statutory and contractual obligations and available mechanisms for protecting Walter Lillys commercial position - Sufficient commercial acumen to make considered decisions - Familiar with and ability to use all MS Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel - Understanding of financial reporting and the concept of over / under value, etc. - Understanding of the relationship between cost and value - Ability to recognise change - Ability to prepare accurate reports - Experienced in commercial management of a variety of trade packages - Appropriate understanding of Standard Forms of Measurement and ability to undertake re-measurement - Good communication and interpersonal skills - Good negotiation skills - Developing construction knowledge - Flexibility to adapt to and work within changing environments Other organisations may refer to this role as Junior Surveyor, Surveying Assistant, Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Surveying Technician, Surveyor's Assistant, or Assistant Construction Surveyor.
