Job Description
There’s a permanent opportunity for you here as an Electrically Biased Building Services Engineer. To carry out Mechanical, Electrical and Building Fabric Planned Preventative Maintenance at our site in Bridgend.
The Role:
1. Provide a high level of customer service to the client and associates.
2. Cooperate with the development of an operational centre of excellence.
3. Provide a key role as part of an effective team delivering Planned and Reactive Services across the clients’ sites.
4. Participate in the service delivery on site and enhance the customer experience, ensuring that they are the center of what Dalkia delivers.
5. Promote a health and safety culture across the contract, liaising with other team members and sub-contractors to ensure that company standards are adhered to. Actively encourage a safe reliable environment whilst maintaining a zero-accident tolerance.
6. Provide technical input to the wider team.
7. Highlight areas to minimise operational & reputational risk.
8. Maximise system and asset uptimes and availability.
9. Exude a positive and self-motivated attitude and take ownership of problems and challenges on site.
10. Communicate effectively under pressure and respond effectively.
11. Carry out Planned Preventative and Reactive Maintenance tasks as requested.
12. Receive regular toolbox talks and health and safety briefings with the team.
13. Be part of all aspects of the Data Centres and switching requirements of the site.
14. Demonstrate effective health & safety awareness and impart knowledge to others.
15. Take proactive ownership of faults and defects on site.
16. Keep the CAFM system updated with works carried out.
17. Supervise / escort contractors whilst on site, ensuring that their RAMS are reviewed and permits are issued to safely control activities.
18. Manage and control safe systems of operations including verifying all isolations.
19. Escalate any incident which has the potential to affect safe and reliable building operations.
20. Be part of a 1 in 3 call-out emergency response roster.
21. Adhere to set engineering standards in accordance with Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA).
22. Carry out out-of-hours works as part of the site team.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Essential:
1. Formal Electrical Apprenticeship.
2. City & Guilds Parts 1 and 2 (Electrical Installation 2360) or recognised equivalent; or Institute of Electrical Engineers (I.E.E) Registration or recognised equivalent; or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
3. GCSE (or ‘O’ Level equivalent) passes in Maths and English or recognised equivalent.
4. Experience with similar maintenance duties including fault diagnosis and rectification.
5. Experienced in electrical installation work, plus electrical testing and inspection.
6. Experience with Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and standby generation systems.
7. Maintaining critical equipment, Chillers, HVAC systems, BMS, and process water systems.
8. Willingness to carry out general fabric duties as required.
9. Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
10. Experience of working within a customer-focused environment.
11. 5 years’ experience within a critical environment.
12. A good knowledge of trades - plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, controls, and refrigeration.
13. Experience in working with handheld technology and helpdesk.
14. Fault diagnosis and rectification experience.
15. Be conversant with current Health and Safety legislation.
16. Prior experience with permits to work (authorised person electrically/mechanically).
Desirable:
1. HNC/HND in Electrical biased Building services endorsement.
2. Experienced in High Voltage switching.
3. ACoP L8.
