Who we are:
We're The Wine Flyer, a new eCommerce venture from IAG Loyalty, with the aim of making great products accessible to our customers!
Wines are an area of huge passion for many of our customers. Together, with our professional expertise in the category from our careers in travel and hospitality, we have a unique ability to bring a first-class ‘edit' from the world of wines, including many from the British Airways inflight and lounge offering.
This, combined with the power of the IAG Loyalty platform, means not only are we providing outstanding products, but we're also giving British Airways Executive Club members the opportunity to discount their purchases using their Avios or to collect points when they buy from us to use on future reward flights.
What you’ll get up to:
As a Tech Lead at IAG Loyalty Retail, you'll spearhead the day-to-day development and operation of critical technologies for The Wine Flyer. From building and maintaining Ecommerce applications to designing and integrating APIs, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring our platforms support the success of our commercial and operational teams. Collaborating with stakeholders, defining technology standards, and proactively addressing cybersecurity risks are key components of this dynamic role. If you're ready to lead in the retail technology space, join us at IAGL Retail and drive innovation in every aspect of our business.
What we need from you:
* Retail Application Development: Demonstrated proficiency in building and maintaining retail applications using modern technologies such as NodeJS, Auth, and microservices architecture.
* Startup Mindset: Demonstrate your understanding of the startup culture and its unique challenges, such as limited resources, tight timelines, and ambiguity. Highlight experiences where you demonstrated resourcefulness, creativity, and a proactive attitude in overcoming obstacles and driving results.
* AWS Ecosystem: Strong familiarity with the AWS ecosystem, including services like API Gateway, Redis, and ECS (Elastic Container Service).
* CI/CD and DevOps: Practical experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Bitbucket/git and Bitbucket pipelines. Knowledge of DevOps practices is essential.
* Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, and a commitment to working within a DevOps culture. Experience with CloudFormation is a plus.
* Containerisation: Experience with container technologies like Docker and competence in managing container orchestration systems like ECS.
* Technical Documentation: Strong ability to produce comprehensive technical documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Comfortable collaborating with non-technical products and business stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into actionable deliverables.
* Security Awareness: Experience working with Security Engineering teams to identify and mitigate risks associated with application development and deployment.
The role has a blended base, between our Central London office and home. We trust you to make the right decision about the type of work that is best done in each location. We expect you'll achieve a 50/50 split between the two and there may be times where you’ll want to visit our other locations to tell their stories, too (fully reimbursed).
What you’ll get in return:
A few to spark your interest below, and you’ll find even more on our career site.
* A place to grow your career: We’re home to three businesses under one roof and part of one of the world’s leading airline groups (International Airlines Group), so the opportunities here, if you go after them, are endless. Our newly launched learning programme, ‘Develop You’, will also give you the skills and capability to take your career to new heights.
* A place to belong: Our socials are a firm fave in the calendar, and our colleague-led networks and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion agenda will give you the platforms to make new connections, share your passions and your voice.
* A place to make your mark: Our focus on agility and continuous improvement is a mindset and way of working. We put the customer at the heart of our decisions and move fast so you can deliver the most value possible.
* A place to do things that matter: We’re passionate about the part we play in our customers' lives; helping them make memories that last a lifetime, as well as the work we do to give back to our local communities. Our thriving charity network, combined with work that impacts millions, means we’re a place you can do your part.
* Perks that take you places:
* One non-contractual Annual Bookable Travel Concession for you, your partner and dependants after 12 months service and unlimited standby and premium standby fares for you and your nominees on the full British Airways network and numerous other partner airlines from day one.
* 20 days working from abroad in Europe per annum.
* Annual Bonus (dependent on company and individual performance).
* Company pension of 9% (6% contribution from IAGL, 3% employee contribution).
* 25 days annual leave, + 2 days charity leave and a day off on your birthday.
* New joiner, birthday and recognition Avios.
We might not be right for you if:
* You only want to focus on your to-do list; we’re a small, high-performing team, we help each other to succeed.
* You value perfection over fast iteration and progress; IAG Loyalty moves fast, we learn and iterate as we go; our environment isn’t right for everyone.
* You’re looking to create but not build; this is an end-to-end role, you need to be comfortable owning your space, from ideation through to delivery and review.
If you think you have what it takes but don't meet every single point above, please do still apply. We'd love to chat and see if you could be a great fit.

Our vision, 'to create the world's most rewarding experiences,' applies not only to our customers but for our colleagues too. This commitment makes IAG Loyalty a rewarding place to work and enhances our ability to solve complex problems, drive innovation, and better serve our customers and communities.
