Assistant Practitioner Physiotherapy Inpatients

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Inpatients Physiotherapy team. We have a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner role to work on the acute wards at Torbay hospital as part of the inpatients Physiotherapy Team. The post is 37.5 hours working Monday-Friday, including one weekend a month.
Main Duties of the Job
1. To work independently and autonomously, providing assessment, support, care, treatment, and advice to individuals, within guidelines and protocols identified for the role.
2. To work within a multi-professional team undertaking practitioner role.
3. To implement treatment and care to patients under the guidance and supervision of a registered professional (e.g., Mobility, Personal Care, Equipment Provision).
4. Wherever possible, to contribute in reducing inpatient length of stay to ensure that patients receive the appropriate care in the most appropriate setting.
5. To keep the patient at the centre of their care, ensuring patient and carer participation in decision making.
6. To take responsibility for the daily care and support of delegated patients and support qualified staff in maintaining Best Practice within fractured neck of femur pathways, including support with data collection.
7. Deliver treatment/care within a variety of settings, under the guidance of a registered practitioner.
8. To practice the principles and philosophy of individualised person-centred patient care in accordance with Trust Policy, procedures, and regulatory body's guidelines.
About Us
The inpatient Physiotherapy team is a dynamic and flexible team who provide a high level of Physiotherapy intervention to the patients at Torbay Hospital. The team works closely with other members of the MDT and is friendly and welcoming, supporting each other over a variety of specialist wards.
Job Responsibilities
1. Experience in the core clinical areas of physiotherapy within an NHS setting, including a range of respiratory, musculoskeletal, acute inpatient and elderly care, trauma and orthopaedics, community or intermediate care, neurological conditions.
2. Able to maintain judgement under pressure.
3. Experience of decision making, time management, and maintaining interpersonal working relationships.
4. The job involves frequent exposure to unpleasant working conditions on a regular (daily) basis (e.g., bodily fluids including sputum, vomit, urine, faeces, fleas, and lice) and occasional exposure to verbal and physical aggression or unpleasant home environments (e.g., aggressive pets).
