This post is for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Intensive Care. This is a whole-time post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
Due to the imminent requirement to fill this post, the successful candidate must hold full registration with the GMC and have existing right to live and work in the UK at the time of application. Candidates who are not GMC registered or do not hold existing right to live and work in the UK at the time of application will not progress through the shortlisting stage.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will share the responsibility for the assessment, resuscitation, and treatment of all patients referred to the Critical Care Unit, working as part of a team which includes the on-call ICU consultant.
The new appointee will be expected to see patients in the Emergency Department, theatre recovery, and the wards following referral from colleagues in other specialties.
The appointee will take responsibility for ensuring their ongoing medical education as agreed at Directorate level.
They will share the responsibility for direct clinical supervision and teaching of the trainee staff, nurse clinicians, and medical students.
They will be allocated an Educational Supervisor.
They will be expected to participate in an active audit programme.
There will be the opportunity to develop skills in transthoracic echocardiography up to the level of FICE accreditation.
There will be the opportunity to participate in simulation-based teaching and training.
Assessment and resuscitation of critically ill patients.
Ongoing management of critically ill patients on the critical care unit.
Multi-disciplinary team working.
Attendance at MET calls.
