Casual Exam Invigilator, Reader and Scribe
Required for various exam periods from September – July
Casual contract
Rate of pay: £12.26 per hour & additional holiday pay
This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly team of invigilators, scribes and readers for the forthcoming exam season.
We are looking for invigilators to work in our main exam hall and also within our special educational needs department – this will involve invigilating for small groups of students (between 1-25 students).
The team oversees the examination hall and special educational needs department to provide access arrangements for all learners, ensuring correct exam procedures and regulations are followed. Duties include:
1. Supervising pupils taking public and internal examinations.
2. Occasionally supervising candidates between exam sittings.
3. Preparing exam rooms.
4. Distributing and collecting exam papers in accordance with the exam regulations.
5. Reading and scribing for learners who require additional help.
Experience is not required, as training will be provided. Applicants will be asked to declare if they have invigilated previously and whether they have any current maladministration or malpractice sanctions applied to them.
Exams take place throughout the school year. The main exam periods that you will be required are October, November, March, May and June and you will need to be available from 8:30am for morning exams and from 12:45pm for afternoon exams, some of which may not finish until 4:00pm.
In order to support you in your work, you will also be required to attend regular paid training sessions throughout the year.
The role is ideally suited to applicants who are highly organised, vigilant and reliable, have excellent attention to detail and have the ability to remain calm under pressure. You will have good communication skills and be able to commit to dates in advance.
This is a casual contract and working hours will be negotiated for each exam and training period.
In return for everything you can bring, we can offer you:
1. The opportunity to be part of our supportive and inclusive Light Hall family.
2. Opportunities for further development in your role and progression.
3. Induction, training and ongoing CPD opportunities to further support your development.
4. A range of staff benefits including local government pension with generous employer contribution.
5. Free employee wellbeing services such as free physiotherapy and chiropractor sessions, GP consultations for staff and their children 24 hours a day, 7 days a week worldwide and flu jabs.
