We are looking for an experienced mental health nurse to be based in our CAMHS Eating Disorders multidisciplinary team (MDT), and work to forge strong links with our Crisis MDT. This includes the provision of consultation, training, and attendance at clinical meetings to support the Crisis team in the care of patients with eating disorders. Alongside the link role, your experience will be valued through holding a clinical caseload.
You will be a qualified mental health nurse with experience of working with children and young people (CYP) in crisis, and specifically have worked with CYP with eating disorders. We are looking for someone who will share their knowledge and experience with other clinicians and provide support in their role working with this patient group.
You will be ambitious and have a positive attitude and outstanding clinical skills, along with excellent interpersonal skills which will enable you to thrive within a multi-disciplinary team context and in working with this complex patient group and their families.
Located at our site in Aylesbury, both the ED Team and Crisis teams pride themselves in being supportive and friendly places to work and professionally develop.
There is no on-call or out-of-hours requirement for this role.

Main Duties
* To lead and ensure there is effective provision of support for CYP with an eating disorder within the Crisis Service.
* To work across both the Crisis and Eating Disorder CAMHS services and other agencies to ensure that CYP have high-quality effective interventions, providing an effective interface for communication between the ED team and Crisis Team. This includes ensuring good communication with Inpatient Units where CYP may require admission and support for good discharge planning.
* To offer robust mental health support to children and young people with mental health concerns, specifically CYP with eating disorders and co-morbidity as required.
* To participate in the CYP ED team’s duty rota and undertake emergency assessments when and where required (i.e. community, hospital site, children’s homes).
* To support the development of care pathways and signpost young people to appropriate mental health services.
* To provide consultation, advice, training, and support both internally and for other agencies.

Full Job Description
Duties include:
Expert Clinical Practice
* Provide expert care to patients on their caseload, including skilled assessment, treatment, supervision, and consultation within CAMHS.
* The post holder will have Clinical Care Keyworker responsibility for an agreed case load of Eating Disorder patients, undertaking CPA, including crisis and risk management.
* Develop risk management plans, regularly review risk plans, identifying opportunities for positive risk-taking in conjunction with the client, community team, and client’s carers/relatives/significant others.
* Provide expertise and specialist advice, supervision, guidance, and consultation to other professionals delivering complex interventions and contribute directly to young people’s assessment and treatment.
* Make critical judgements of the highest order to satisfy the expectations and demands of the job.
* Draw on advanced knowledge and exercise professional skills of the highest order, some of which are likely to be highly specialist, acquired only after lengthy training, supervision, and practice.
* Make and receive referrals.
* Complete advanced history taking and physical examinations as required with the patient group.
* Regularly undertake clinical supervision.

* Support and inspire colleagues around the field.

* Support staff in the Crisis team to develop their clinical skills in order for them to work effectively with CYP with Eating Disorders and to provide training for the team, wider service, and other agencies.
