The role of the Service Manager within ADHD 360 is multifaceted, requiring a balance of leadership skills, clinical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining the delivery of high-quality care. As a pivotal member of the team, you will play a key role in coordinating and leading a group of Team Leads and Clinical Leads, ensuring the effective functioning of the clinical teams, the safe delivery of care, and excellent patient experience.
In your role as Service Manager, you will be expected to role model the behaviours and values of our organisation whilst demonstrating your clinical responsibilities and specialised skills as an ADHD Practitioner. This requires you to be an independent/supplementary Prescriber, supporting patients throughout their treatment pathway which will include the triage, assessment, diagnosis, and where appropriate treatment of adults and/or children in the care of ADHD 360.
The Service Manager will, along with the Nurse Consultant and Clinical Director, work on the development of relevant services and ensure that they contribute to the performance of the service overall. You will be working in partnership with the Nurse Consultant and Clinical Director to ensure the effective provision of high-quality, safe services, against agreed outcome measures, service level agreements, and activity.
Main duties of the job
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Manage, engage, support, and develop high performing teams including the line management of Team Leads.
* Oversee performance management of clinical staff.
* Key point of contact for risk and safeguarding concerns that are escalated to Team Leads.
* Oversee the recruitment of the clinical workforce.
* Provide operational leadership for the Service to ensure the effective provision of high-quality, safe clinical services for patients against agreed outcome measures, service level agreements, activity, and financial targets.
* Provide strong visible, inclusive, and compassionate leadership across the Service.
* Constantly review and improve the service, taking into account local and national guidelines and guidance from professional leads.
* Ensure that effective strategies are in place for the Service and that key elements of the service are joined up with the Clinical Director and Deputy Clinical Director.
* Deputise for the Deputy Clinical Director as required.
* Work in conjunction with the Operations Team to introduce systems that ensure the collection and analysis of complex data for continuous performance measurement of services within the Service.
* Share responsibility alongside the Deputy Clinical Director for the performance management of the service, and contribute towards performance management, demonstrating achievement of objectives on a consistent basis within agreed timescales.
* Ensure that effective governance arrangements are in place for identifying and mitigating risk and that a culture exists of continuous service review, transformation, and evaluation.
* Identify, develop, implement, and review effective systems for comprehensive performance management and improvement services.
* Undertake and/or supervise investigations following incidents, accidents, or complaints.
* Establish information flows, analysis, and reporting that supports a culture of evidence-based management decisions.
* Contribute to the development and management of a Service Risk Register.
* Provide strong visible, inclusive, and compassionate leadership across the Service, ensuring delivery of high quality, safe, and effective services.
* Have an understanding of the national perspective and future strategy for the NHS and related areas of health.
* Provide a clear, effective, and appropriate leadership style that engages and empowers all members of your Team.
* Ensure supportive staff management arrangements are in place and carry out Appraisals and 6 CCE for direct reports.
* Develop staff knowledge and skills to promote equality and diversity and address inequalities both in employment and service delivery.
* Undertake other duties commensurate with this grade of post in agreement with the relevant line manager.
* Responsible for ensuring identified training and development is undertaken appropriate to the postholder's role.
In addition to your Service Manager role, you will be required to meet the requirements of the ADHD Practitioner Job description as outlined below:
* Assessments for people with ADHD, considering differential and/or co-occurring conditions to make diagnostic decisions.
* Practice as a non-medical prescriber (independent/supplementary prescribing) to develop and implement treatment and titration plans, ensuring physical observations are obtained and reviewed.
* Support the patient throughout their treatment journey, conducting regular follow-ups for adults and/or children under your care until they have reached stability and optimisation.
* Perform patient risk assessments and review safeguarding needs in conjunction with treatment strategies during the patient journey.
* Ensure that the prescription is written as per legal requirements for controlled and non-controlled drugs.
* Maintain accurate and timely client records on Chrysalis and associated clinical templates, adhering to professional requirements for accurate record keeping.
* Demonstrate a clear understanding and adherence to security in relation to prescription security and management.
* Recognise and report clinical incidents and near misses to support the culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
* Qualified nurse, current UK registration and PIN with the NMC, Pharmacy Practitioner with GPhC registration, Medic on GMC Register without practice restrictions (Essential).
* Qualified Medical or Non-medical Prescriber (NMP) with current registration (Essential).
* Specialist ADHD Nurse/Pharmacist with experience (Desirable).
* To work unsupervised and independently within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, or GPhC Standards (Essential).
* Expert level of understanding of the pharmaceutical treatment options for ADHD (Essential).
* Experience managing and supervising staff, including dealing with organisational change, conflict management, and performance management (Essential).
* Experience of participation in Clinical Governance processes including Clinical Audit, prioritising patient safety and quality.
* Previous experience in a managerial clinical post (Essential).
* Demonstrable ability to connect with and provide support for children and/or adults.
* Familiarity with EPR systems.
* Willingness to learn and follow clinic standards of practice.
* Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients.
* Sufficient IT skills to be able to undertake a remote post with virtual assessments.
* Ability to work alongside others within a multi-disciplinary team setting.
* Professional approach consistent with regulatory body expectations.
* Excellent time management and ability to manage own workload.
