As SQA and NPI Engineer you will be working closely with Engineering, Purchasing and Supply Chain to ensure supplier selection and ongoing performance meets business needs. You will focus on supplier continuous improvement working directly with the group’s suppliers.
This role will be responsible for New Product Introduction (NPI) for the group, which will involve understanding customer requirements, to ensuring these are flowed down to the supply chain.
You will also be the escalation point for supplier quality issues, working with suppliers to develop their quality assurance processes to ensure they are accountable to achieve high quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Management of supplier audit programme, conducting audits as per group business requirements. Worldwide travel will be required.
* Management and responsibility of the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing capabilities, health and safety and environmental risks.
* Management of the New Product Introduction process from RFQ and supplier selection, through to gaining customer approval – ensuring full product and process requirements are flowed down the supply chain.
* Support new product launches to ensure suppliers are capable of delivering to the required quality standards.
* Ensuring all supplier documentation and certification is relevant and up-to-date.
* Support the purchasing and supply chain teams with supplier performance and supplier improvement/corrective action plans.
* Being the escalation point for the Engineering teams and hold the supplier accountable.
* Managing the flow of compliance and legislation requests (such as conflict minerals, REACH etc).
* Oversee all supplier development procedures to identify deviations from quality standards.
Skills and Experience Profile Required:
* Must have proven experience in quality management system auditing – minimum ISO 9001 (IATF 16949/AS 9100 is desirable).
* Experience driving quality assurance through Product Part Approval Process (PPAP) and advanced product quality planning (APQP etc).
* Able to travel for supplier auditing purposes, UK, EU and worldwide (therefore, must hold a passport with no limitations for worldwide travel and hold a current, valid driving licence).
* Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills, and presentation abilities.
* Analytical and high level of attention to detail.
* A strong work ethic and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong data management skills with advanced Excel skills to enable merging of reports and combining data together from a variety of sources.
* Must be confident driver of projects, able to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously over different sites.
* Self-motivated and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Must be organised and able to multitask and prioritise, working in a systematic way to get results.
* Strong use of the Microsoft package.
* Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications/experience.
