Outline of the role & Project
As our Senior QS working for the Strategic Pipeline Alliance in Peterborough you will manage a team of multi-discipline contractors, multi-disciplined supply chain and encourage collaboration and innovation to be industry leading in commercial management. This is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the UK and it will be achieved by the engineering, integration and assembly of a series of interconnected pipelines which will enable AW to move water from areas with surplus water, to areas which are in deficit, making the east of England resilient to drought and securing water supplies for future generations.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for;
1. Achieve the appropriate commercial result for projects through the provision of accurate financial reporting.
2. Build and maintain working relationships with the supply chain and clients.
3. Manage subcontractor supplier accounts, financially and contractually. Monitor subcontractors against the programme. Negotiate final accounts.
4. Develop, manage, and coordinate the procurement schedule.
5. Complete measurements and valuations of work executed, ensuring that they meet the conditions of the contract (re-measure as required).
6. Monitor project expenditure against budget. Provide analysis of cost over-run and cost projections. Exploring opportunities to maximise value and minimise cost.
7. Liaise with clients on commercial issues, including agreement of variations, claims and additional payments.
8. Identify legitimate contractual claim situations and prepare suitable and documentation to clients.
9. Create project specific commercial risk and opportunity profiles with measurable controls and allocate responsibility.
10. Lead and support a team of Surveyors. This will include people management interventions such as performance management, individual focus reviews, manpower planning and the continuous professional development of the team.
11. Mentor and coach your commercial team members in line with Company standards and values, to maximise the potential of both the teams and the individuals in line with the Company values and behavioural competencies.

Due to locations of some of your projects, it may mean that you are required to live away from home. We are here to make this as seamless as possible, therefore we cover all accommodation costs, provide you with a daily allowance and cover travels costs (as set out in our living away from home policy)
A bit about your skills and experience
18. At least ten years pre and post contract experience in a construction commercial management role working on major projects.
19. Experience administering NEC form of contract.
20. Degree or demonstrable suitable commercial management experience
21. Strong understanding of modern Civil Engineering techniques, plant and equipment and an appreciation of logistical needs/issues.
22. Appreciations of the impact of cost in the completion of a programme and development of a construction solutions.
23. Strong IT Skills
24. Full Manual UK driving license essential
