Operator (Relief) Pencaitland About the Company Bairds Malt Limited was formed in March 1999, when two existing companies, Hugh Baird & Sons Limited and Moray Firth Maltings plc, merged to form a new company. We currently operate four malting plants within the UK and produce malt primarily for the brewing and distilling industries. Approximately 10% of our malt is exported to customers around the world who want to use British malt in their brewing or distilling operations. Our merchanting business, Scotgrain Agriculture Limited, procures malting barley for our own use and trades in barley, other grains, and related agricultural commodities. In 2013 we launched Brewers Select, our one-stop-shop supplier of quality ingredients and equipment for craft and microbrewers. Bairds Malt Limited is part of United Malt Group, which is an international, performance-driven malt supplier operating 18 strategically located malt production facilities in the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. UMG is the world’s fourth largest commercial malt producer supplying malt to brewers and distillers around the world from the largest of multinational organisations to the smallest craft brewers. We celebrate our people and we work together to deliver on what we promise. We are focused on developing a skilled workforce and encouraging diversity of both people and thinking.
