Job Specification:
I am looking for a PA who would be able to help me enhance my independence. I would like to have someone who is able to use their initiative to help me, able to pick up my routine quickly, happy to give me space and do a quiet hobby if I go for meetings/meet with friends, is flexible, and is, or will be, confident with medication/care needs (training is given for this).
My morning routine usually consists of making breakfast, medication, bathing, and helping with little jobs that I can get done. When I’m well, lunch is usually a meal which caters for my dietary requirements, although when I’m not well sometimes I struggle to eat.
My enabling routine varies significantly. Sometimes, I can travel to dance studios where I need my PA to drive, set up equipment, help with cleaning the studio before use, visit me in my breaks and in future will need help with my assistance dog. Sometimes, I have work to do for my socials and require a PA to help come out with me to get content. This usually requires someone driving my car, helping me when I’m in my wheelchair, being able to use my camera on my phone to take shots and help film, or, being with me whilst I work in a cafe writing blogs.
Sometimes I have hospital trips, trips to see friends, business meetings… Sometimes I have bigger trips to places such as London for the day. And, sometimes I am so unwell I have to stay in bed. It’s a real mix!
My condition is very variable so I do have many days when I am in bed unable to do anything. The balancing act is trying to decide what to do on that day. Whether I need to just sleep (and your job is to help me make sure I have enough fluids/medication/safe), or, if I rest enough if I can manage a little trip out later on. The more I get to know you, the more you will learn.
I need support with admin tasks and ideally someone who can use social media, however, I provide training with all tasks. I also would love someone who is interested in the arts, as I regularly work with dance companies and theatres so it would be incredible to have someone who could share the excitement whilst on the job!
I have opportunities to work extra hours at a premium rate when working away from home (out of care hours) or needing extra help at weekends through Access To Work. This usually is available after the probationary period (3 months) and once we have built a good relationship between us.
