Electrician
Peterborough
Excellent opportunity and benefits!
A well-respected construction and facilities services provider currently engaged on a long-term framework with His Majesty's Prison & Probation service is seeking to expand their team with the addition of an Electrician to work on a Ministry of Justice scheme outside of Peterborough.
The client is actively working on 60 secure premises throughout England and Wales and is motivated to maintain and deliver safe, clean and efficient facilities. This team plays an important part in ensuring that planned and reactive maintenance works are executed in a safe, compliant, and timely manner.
As an Electrician, you will be responsible for:
1. Planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
2. Diagnosing and replacing failed domestic electrical components.
3. Responding to breakdowns ensuring all works are carried out under the appropriate Safe System of Work and in a timely manner.
4. Actively fault finding / problem solving on domestic electrical systems across the prison.
5. Undertaking electrical installation activities in accordance with the design provided and IET Wiring Regulations.
6. Testing and inspecting electrical installations in accordance with the current IEE wiring regulations.
7. Monitoring and ordering critical spares for all electrical services.
8. Other tasks as required by the Site.
This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate. You will be responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
You will be testing and inspecting electrical installations across prison facilities in accordance with the 18th IEE wiring regulations as amended from time to time. Prison Security Clearance will be required (you will be supported through this process).
The working pattern is 39 hours a week across a 7-day shift rota (15% uplift to salary provided). There will be a need to work 1 in 3 weekends but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary).
We're keen to hear from you if you have:
1. Appropriate technical qualification eg City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or above.
2. BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition.
3. Experience of electrical maintenance activities, general distribution and installation and testing.
4. Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at work Regulations.
5. Capable of working at heights.
6. Ability to work alone and use initiative.
Ideally, you will be qualified in 18th Edition (however if you currently only have 17th Edition, we will sponsor you to upgrade to the 18th Edition; terms and conditions apply) with experience in electrical maintenance within a commercial environment.
In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have IT skills and experience in fire alarm systems and CCTV systems to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
