We are looking for an Environmental Incident Investigation Specialist to join Thames Water on a permanent basis.
The purpose of the role is to drive performance and directly impact pollution reduction, one of the top three deliverables for Thames Water.
As part of the Environmental Incident Investigations team, you will fully and comprehensively investigate incidents to a high standard, report information to the Environment Agency about potential pollution incidents, ensure our records align, extract event learning, and feed into continuous improvement workstreams.
What you will be doing as an Environmental Incident Investigation Specialist?
* Fully investigating pollution incidents, which will require data analysis and interpretation and preparing incident reports within required timescales.
* Preparing written incident reports and providing them to the Environment Agency within required timescales to ensure they are recorded correctly and writing challenge documents where anomalies are identified.
* Conducting and assuring detailed root cause analysis to understand what has gone wrong and what actions and learning need to be implemented to prevent a repeat incident.
* Working closely with field teams and other business areas to ensure that environmental performance is prioritised and providing feedback (e.g. through training/presentations) where improvements can be made.
* Acting as the technical specialist, responsible for developing and recording team processes and carrying out independent research projects into environmental subjects.
* Coaching and supporting others in your own area of expertise, and offering day-to-day support for team queries and reviews, acting as subject matter expert.
* Collaborating within the team and wider business and feeding into discussions around pollution reduction initiatives.
* Reporting on team and business performance, maintaining key performance indicators and investigating where these deviate from the expected targets.

* Excellent planning, organisation, and verbal/written communication skills including report writing.
* Evidence of working flexibly across organisations, building and/or improving ways of working and embedding them into organisations.
* Understand Environmental Legislation and/or Regulations including CICS & 16_02.
* Understanding of waste network and waste treatment operation.
* Evidence of supporting others to develop the team.
* Full driving licence as travel is required.
* Excellent IT literacy, including good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
