We have an exciting opportunity to join our Team as a Technical Manager at our Ultrapharm site as part of Finsbury Food Group.
Ultrapharm is a dedicated Gluten Free bakery specialising in only Gluten Free products since 1993. The company’s unique approach to craft and baking creates premium gluten-free products with the flavour and taste of traditional bread.
The Technical Manager role is to ensure the technical integrity of Ultrapharm, providing governance and leadership across the business so that technical standards are met. The role will be accountable for food safety legality and quality and be responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the technical department.
To be successful in this role, the Technical Manager will have worked in a similar leadership technical position within the food manufacturing sector. They will have customer-facing experience as they will work directly with and build relationships with key retailers including M&S, Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s. Good stakeholder management and clear communication skills are essential as this is a fast-paced role where they will need to adapt quickly to influence at all levels, achieve KPIs, and manage unannounced audits.

In this busy role as Technical Manager, you will be a vital part of the Technical team and will be responsible for ensuring all food safety, quality, and legality of all products manufactured on site whilst also ensuring all technical manufacturing processes comply with relevant internal standards and those set by customer and regulatory authorities.
Part of the role will be to manage customer and third-party audits to achieve and maintain accreditation standards, BRC A* grade, customer green or higher audit standards, and act as the key contact with customers and potential customers in all technical issues including driving improvement plans and implementing outputs from risk assessments and retailer codes of practice.
You will be required to lead by example in encouraging appropriate behavioural standards in support of the company’s values and culture, coaching employees in the implementation and training of technical standards, systems, and procedures.

* Ideally educated to Degree or HND level in food science or a science/technology related discipline or Technical Management experience gained from a food industry role involving customer contact and team management/supervision
* Level 3 Food Safety & Level 3 HACCP (minimum)
* Experience of working within a technical team and cross-functionally with other departments including Operations, Engineering, Hygiene, Supply Chain, NPD & HR
* Excellent communication skills and able to communicate clear strategies and plans internally and with customers
* High quality/food safety standards.
* Attention to detail
* Able to work as an individual but with the leadership skills to manage a wider team
* Highly organised with the ability to show strong project management skills
* To lead by example in encouraging and displaying the company’s values
* Has a curious attitude towards change and improvement, with the ability to take onboard best practice
* Computer literate, with good use of Excel and spreadsheets
* Get up & go, positive, can-do attitude and a moral code to ensure the business 'does the right thing'
* Articulate, professional, with excellent communicative English language skills - as you will liaise directly with our clients and the factory, making time-sensitive decisions
