Main duties of the job
Both our Surgery Directorate and Medicine and Urgent Care Directorate at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust are passionate about getting it right for patients and their families. We are an extremely friendly, forward-thinking and progressive division who are looking to appoint enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic Band 5 Registered Nurses who are seeking to start or progress their career.
The acute clinical and compassionate leadership skills you will gain from working within any of these specialties will be highly advantageous for individuals aspiring to become a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist or Advanced Clinical Practitioner in the future. In order to achieve the latter you will be supported by a preceptorship programme (if applicable), as well as Senior Sister, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Practice Development Nurse and the Matron. The breadth and depth of specialties would also be an ideal platform for individuals with aspirations of starting a career within a critical care environment.
We will be providing integrated services liaising directly with community teams, offering excellent networking opportunities. We have a very exciting range of acute specialties within the medicine and surgery directorate.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of caring for acutely unwell patients in a variety of settings
* Previous experience of specialty
* Experience of taking charge
Skills and Abilities
* Good basic level of English language demonstrated through effective written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to solve problems and use initiative
* Ability to develop own clinical skills and a willingness to participate in continuing professional development
* Competency in medication administration including IV drug administration or willingness to undergo training
* Basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft packages)
* Ability to take the lead, initiate and ensure appropriate action in response to the deteriorating patient
* Interpersonal skills - Calm - Supportive - Motivated - Professional
* Willingness to develop teaching skills
* Able to prioritise and meet deadlines

Qualifications and Training
* Current NMC Registration
* Training Qualification or equivalent experience
