The Energy Division at ARM are currently recruiting an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a world-leading, nuclear defence client based out of Devonport dockyard.
Job Overview:
Our client provides major new or upgraded dock, berth and building infrastructure projects to provide facilities for the ship and submarine sustainment programmes.
Your primary focus is to manage the delivery of mechanical engineering work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule and cost.
Some of your duties will include:
1. To manage the delivery of nuclear process, work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule and cost.
2. Responsible for managing the technical aspects of nuclear process engineering packages from identification of the need, through to handover.
3. Develop, lead and manage one or more technical design packages agreeing project related objectives, managing designer performance and making appropriate technical management responses. Provide Subject Matter Expert advice as per discipline.
4. Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule and budget.
5. Plan for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and leading the project's technical planning process.
What do you need to succeed?
1. The candidate will have a degree or equivalent in a Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. Preferably Chartered Engineer status and member of relevant institute or significant demonstrable engineering experience and capable of registration with the Engineering Council at CEng level.
2. Nuclear Introductory Course or equivalent nuclear and/or marine system knowledge.
3. Design and substantiation of process engineering solutions to relevant codes for satisfying Nuclear Safety Functions; particular experience in dock structures.
4. Knowledge of process design of large scale industrial plant.
5. Knowledge of construction techniques employed for Nuclear Safety related process systems.
