Imperial Athletes delivers student sport at Imperial College London and is made up of 5000 students across 55 different
sports. Part of that programme is our performance sport offer which includes 50 scholarship athletes and a select number of
performance teams. These high performing students are competing in both the highest BUCS leagues and on the
international stage.
The purpose of this role is to assist with the delivery of the strength an conditioning program to our performance athletes
and teams. As part of the placement you will also be given the opportunity to undertake the UKSCA Strength & Conditioning
trainer award which will give you an industry recognised strength and conditioning qualification you will be able to utilise
straight away.
The placements are made up of:
10+ hours of strength & conditioning shadowing or coaching with the performance teams and individual scholars (hours
can be discussed to fit with your requirements) in terms 1 & 2 only (term 1-Oct-Dec 24-/Term 2-Jan 25-Mar 25)
Opportunity to gain an industry recognised strength and conditioning qualification (UKSCA strength and conditioning
trainer award)
Involvement with regular athlete testing and data evaluation, interpretation and informed decision making
Developing athlete programmes based off regular testing, evaluation and athlete feedback
Opportunities to lead sessions under supervision of one of the full-time coaches once comfortable with the facility and
the programme
In house CPD delivered by the multi-disciplinary practitioners including external guest speakers
Mentoring from lead strength and conditioning coach with weekly meetings and regular observations/feedback
Guidance and mentoring for UKSCA accreditation if required
Opportunity to observe disciplines such as physio, sports rehab and club development
Opportunity to attend national competitions to support our performance athletes as part of an Imperial Athletes team
Our programme is flexible so we may be able to offer exposure to other opportunities once in place such as equipment
management, gym health and safety and other areas within student sport. To support you during this placement we offer up
to £500 travel reimbursement per term which can be claimed back through a simple form, part funding for CPD courses, and
on going 1-1 mentoring as well as branded kit to wear while coaching. The choosen candidates will need to be ready for the
start of the academic year which commence at the start of October 2024.
