PEOPLE OPERATIONAL LEAD / OPERATIONS MANAGER\n \nSalary: 40000 - 42000 may be negotiable\n\nLocation - Edinburgh with occasional travel to other sites in Glasgow, Falkirk and Broxburn.\n \nContract: Fixed term (9 months). \n\nThe role will come with the responsibility of significant breadth and depth of \noperational focussed people management experience, using the practical application of best practice people management skills and techniques, Support, guidance, nurturing and upskilling will ensure that a pragmatic,culturally aligned and commercially sensitive approach is adopted consistently across the brand name and business in general.\n\nThis industry sector can be complex, high energy, fast paced and dynamic, but also provides a highly satisfying opportunity to impact and improve how people can be managed EVER BETTER within our already very successful teams.\n \n \nThis is a site based standalone role which will initially prioritise a focus on our Edinburgh site.\n \n \nROLE DESCRIPTION \nResponsibilities Key Day to Day Activities \nCoaching, Mentoring & Training (Form 80% of this role) \n\n* Be a key resource for our Internal Managers to help develop the skills, \ntechniques and confidence of our duty managers in leading and inspiring their \nteams for success. \n* Supported by the HRBP and in conjunction with the Senior Manager,provide significant upskilling, coaching and mentoring to people managers.\nTaking a pragmatic and practical approach to managing core people management issues \nand activities within a busy operational environment across ER, recruitment & \nselection, engagement, and training & development. \n* Support the Senior Manager to embed a commercial culture of kindness and \nrespect, whilst taking a firm but fair and consistent approach to managing people, \nin a commercially sensitive way, all the while ensuring revenue and costs are \nprioritised, with any ROI clearly assessed, defined and articulated.
\n* Support the HRBP by providing the significant insight and operational lens on the \ndevelopment and delivery of an in-house core people management training \nprogramme, helping to further embed classroom learning and ongoing pragmatic \nbest practice in the day to day operational environment through effective coaching \nand mentoring. \n* Support the HRBP on developing and improving the support guides for managers \nof people with strong operational and commercial perspectives \n* Provide the Senior Director ans Senior Manager and HRBP with \nadditional insight on any skills and/or support gaps from an operational people \nmanagement perspective which would further enable our people managers to be \nthe best they can be, leading highly engaged and inspired teams. \n \nPeople Operational \nExcellence (Forms 10% of the role) \n* Work with the Director, Senior Managers, HRBP and Resource Planning & Insights Manager, \nto help refine our operational people metrics and reporting.
\n* Work with the Senior Managers and Resource Planning & Insights Manager, \noffering further advice on best practice scheduling and deployment of staff for \noperational efficiencies. \n* Support the Brand Homes Director, Brand Homes Manager and HRBP to define and \nembed a set of culturally aligned and relevant KPI's in specific relation to operational \npeople activities, which helps contribute to overall operational excellence. \nOther Projects \n(10%) \n \nPERSON PROFILE \nSkills Essential Desirable \n* Direct experience leading large and diverse teams within a fast-paced and \nagile environment.
(for example, someone with an Operational Managers background in the Food or Drinks sector, Hospitality sector, Retail environment or Call Centre environment)\n* Experience of managing complex people operational management issues \n* Experienced in effective coaching and mentoring of people managers. \n* Previous experience supporting the development and delivery of operational \nfocussed people management related training and upskilling. \n* A highly commercial and pragmatic individual who is fluid and flexible in their \napproach to people management without having reliance on bureaucracy or \noverly prescriptive/process heavy approaches.
\n \n* Strong operational business acumen and solid commerciality. \n* A positive change advocate. \n* A kind, and firm but fair approach to managing people \n\n \n\n* Full UK driving license and access to own transport is essential.
