First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a on behalf of one of our clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Designs, verifies, prepares and maintains detailed technical design drawings, schematics or specifications using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (currently Creo) and Microsoft software packages (Excel, Word etc) ready for manufacture.
2. Prepares Manufacturing & Process Instructions as required for new products.
3. Resolves manufacturing issues in the early stages of product design and development.
4. Works closely with design briefs to resolve design details or discrepancies, or to prepare drawings of unusual, complex, or original designs which require a high degree of precision using CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) equipment.
5. Good understanding of current and new emerging manufacturing methods.
6. Interfaces as necessary with both internal and external customers during the design process.
7. Ensures products are developed to achieve compliance with design objectives.
8. Provides a formal handover of designed product to the Manufacturing Process Engineering group, via pre-production process & design reviews.
Skills and Qualifications:
9. Minimum BEng level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Scientific subject
10. Currently or working towards Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status and member of Professional Engineering Institution.
11. Minimum 3 years Design Engineering experience preferably in Automotive or Aerospace manufacturing industry
12. Experienced using CREO or similar 3D CAD and product lifecycle management software
13. Experience of design for manufature and design for assembly
14. Mechanical bias knowledge with some electrical familiarity
15. Good understanding of GD&T and creation of detail and manufacturing drawings to BS8888 or similar
16. Understanding of following design development process including risk assessment and DFMEA, DFM/A (design for manufacture and assembly)
17. Understanding manufacturing processes and tolerances
Location: Whitstable, Kent
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 Per Annum
