The Meadowbrook School of Weston, a pre-kindergarten through 8th grade school located in Weston, MA, seven miles west of Boston, is seeking a part-time Assistant Librarian to join our faculty for the 2025-2026 school year. This role is 0.6 FTE (approx. 24 hours per week), non-exempt, and eligible for only partial benefits.

Reporting to the Director of Library Services, this position supports the library by performing daily tasks like checking books in and out, processing and shelving materials, assisting patrons with finding resources, maintaining library organization, teaching junior kindergarten, senior kindergarten and first grade library classes with support, and providing basic reference help, ensuring a smooth and accessible library experience for students and staff within the school environment.
The ideal candidate will have a love of literature, an understanding of child development, and the ability to foster a welcoming and inspiring library environment that encourages a love for reading and learning. This role offers the opportunity to work with students in both lower and middle school grades, helping them discover new books and build a lifelong love of reading. The Assistant Librarian will also collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom curricula and support the overall educational mission of the school.

Primary Responsibilities:
* Fostering a library space that is vibrant, welcoming, and conducive to deep thought, authentic inquiry, and collaboration
* Guiding students and faculty as they use library resources
* Checking books in and out to students and staff
* Sorting and reshelving library materials
* Rotating new books on displays
* Maintaining the physical order of the library
* Entering new library materials into the catalog
* Updating library records
* Performing inventory checks
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree or higher
* Prior library and teaching experience preferred, but not required
* Attention to detail and organizational abilities
* Basic computer literacy and familiarity with library management systems
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* The successful candidate will be a proactive and collaborative individual who can build positive, productive relationships with faculty and students; set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimal direction
