Technical Support Engineer - Third Line Support
My client is seeking to recruit a highly skilled 3rd Line Support Engineer. As part of the operations team, the Support Engineer will play a key role in providing advanced technical support and maintaining the operational integrity of IT systems, infrastructure, and telecommunications.
The Support Engineer will provide expert-level support for complex technical issues escalated beyond the first and second line. This role involves systems administration, troubleshooting infrastructure problems, ensuring compliance with security policies, and collaborating with external vendors to resolve technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide advanced troubleshooting for IT systems, telecoms, and infrastructure issues.
2. Administer and monitor IT systems, ensuring operational efficiency and security.
3. Manage and resolve complex incidents, problems, and requests in a timely manner.
4. Maintain security standards and configure access rights for users.
5. Proactively monitor data storage solutions and manage resource allocation.
6. Document and maintain procedures and configurations for infrastructure and hardware.
7. Work with third-party providers to resolve issues and evaluate new or replacement hardware.
8. Contribute to the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures.
9. Provide configuration support for software products and ensure effective operation for end-users.
10. Collaborate with internal teams to manage system performance and optimise functionality.
11. Manage application packaging, automation, and software compatibility testing.
12. Ensure business continuity through disaster recovery and continuity planning.
13. Support the Incident Manager in resolving technical faults and liaise with security teams to manage risks.
Required Qualifications
1. Proven experience in IT systems administration in a multi-supplier environment.
2. Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networking principles, and cloud technologies including Azure, M365, Sharepoint.
3. In-depth technical knowledge of Microsoft Technologies, VMware, Oracle, SQL, and software packaging.
4. Experience managing IT security standards and configuring access control.
5. Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities and unexpected issues.
6. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
7. ITIL V4 Foundation certification preferred.
