AJ Connect has partnered with a modern, innovative law firm seeking a Senior Legal Cashier to join the cash room team.
Purpose of the role: To support and assist in the management of the Cashroom function to ensure that the firm’s financial management system works effectively, and firm and client cash is accounted for accurately and according to relevant rules and regulations.
Your role is to:
1. Manage a small team of Cashroom staff
2. Deputise for the Head Cashier where required, taking lead and responsibility
3. Develop, train and supervise Cashroom staff
4. Understand the scope of the Law Society of Scotland and SRA Accounts Rules and how they impact on the administrative tasks performed within the Cashroom
5. Work across all the firm’s offices
6. Input and progress data accurately and promptly onto the firm’s Practice Management System
7. Reconcile and replicate data across systems as appropriate
8. Liaise with fee-earners regarding transactions
9. Use online banking systems for processing payments
10. Provide audit evidence and ensure compliance with Law Society of Scotland and SRA rules for client funds
11. Recognise, manage and report risk effectively
12. Report actual and potential breaches as per the firm’s policy
13. Design and document processes and procedures
14. Identify and implement process improvements
15. Drive efficiencies in the team
As a Senior Legal Cashier, you will be expected to:
1. Support the Head Cashier and deputise as Head Cashier where required
2. Manage team members
3. Show highly developed organisational and people management skills
4. Be confident working with the Practice Management System
5. Have a positive attitude, be numerate and methodical
6. Be a team worker who can also work using your own initiative
7. Handle difficult people and situations successfully
8. Identify and manage risk effectively in your work and for your team
9. Have a sound knowledge of LSS and SRA Accounts rules, AML legislation and Third-Party Payments
You will be expected to demonstrate an ability to:
1. Strong leadership and people management skills
2. Act professionally and be a representative for your department
3. Be diligent and motivated to achieve the firm’s objectives
4. Work with enthusiasm and commitment to the department and team
