This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of highly motivated Vascular Team in Lincolnshire. The Vascular department consists of six Consultants, four ACP's, three Speciality Doctors (including this post), One Associate Specialist and two FY1's. The department performs a full spectrum of Level 2 emergency and elective vascular procedures. These include infra and juxta renal abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, EVAR, carotid endarterectomy, vascular bypasses including crural vessel bypass, endovenous and open varicose vein surgery and renal access work., Speciality Doctors works as a team, supported by Senior and Junior medical staff. The department is very supportive of Speciality Doctors applying for FRCS exit examinations in Vascular Surgery. The post-holder is expected to participate in clinical activities (Theatre, Clinic, Ward cover, and Daytime Vascular Surgery Emergency shift). They are expected to actively engage in teaching, audits and Clinical Governance programs within the department. The post's incumbent will be attached to one particular surgeon at one time but should be available for cross cover to colleagues during the day time. The department does provide opportunities to get training in endo-vascular (Vascular Interventional Radiology) skills, on a rotational basis.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has been granted teaching hospital status, after demonstrating evidence to significant teaching commitment. From now on it will be known as United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.
This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.
The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).
The Vascular Unit also runs a day time Emergency shifts, with the the post-holder expected to participate in the above shift. The post is likely to be 11 - 12 PA, with the final job plan expected to be confirmed at the time of interview.
The Vascular Department is supported by the Radiology Department. The Radiology department has a 128 slice CT Scanner, a 1.5 tesla MR Scanner and a Toshiba Interventional suite. In addition, we have a well-equipped vascular lab, with 3 Vascular Scientists providing the full spectrum of vascular lab services
