We are seeking consultants with enthusiasm, commitment, and drive to work closely with colleagues throughout the organisation and within the community to help lead the organisation.
The Urology Unit is a nationally renowned centre providing a broad range of Urological services and subspecialties. As part of the Mount Vernon Cancer Network, we provide complex robotic surgery to South Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. Subspecialties include Paediatric Urology, Stone Surgery, Reconstructive Surgery and BPH treatment. All new referrals are seen within a One Stop Urology Clinic by Consultants. We work closely with our regional Renal Unit and UroRadiology colleagues, including Interventional Radiology. We are highly rated in the GMC Trainees Survey and were the first unit in the UK to have a Royal College of Surgeons Robotic Fellowship. We participate in the training of StRs from within the region and have recently been provided with a third StR within the Unit.
Main duties of the job
1. Maintenance of high-quality patient centered care
2. Shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service and participation in strategic planning
3. Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary service
4. Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance activity
5. Active participation in continuing medical education
