We are looking to appoint a new Locum Consultant in ENT (Otology) that will enhance the service of our ENT department that covers a population of approximately 560,000 patients with on-call cover population of around 1 million (shared with West Herts NHS Trust). The Trust is the largest in Hertfordshire and in the Integrated care services network and will soon be a teaching hospital for the medical school based at the University of Hertfordshire.
Main duties of the job
* To provide general ENT service with on-call cover for East and North Herts and West Herts (all of Hertfordshire).
* To work alongside existing Consultant Otologist to provide otology cover for the trust and region including complex middle ear, balance, hearing implants, paediatric hearing loss and hearing MDT.
* To participate in the department's teaching, audit, research and educational activities.

Person Specification
Qualifications / Training
* Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register.
* Higher surgical training in ENT within a recognised programme.
* Fellowship training in advanced otology and auditory implants.
Previous Experience
* Broad range of experience in ENT.
* Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues.
* Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion.
* Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice.
Skills
* Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors.
* Evidence engagement with appraisal and revalidation.
