The Retail Finance team is a hugely important part of Nationwide. They are the finance partners for some of the society's core products (savings, current accounts, and unsecured lending) and the associated retail cost base.
The team plays a significant role in helping to deliver the Nationwide strategy; supporting product/customer focused teams to build great customer propositions and ensure the right decisions are made for our customers.
Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, this role offers insight into exciting initiatives across the Retail Function and presents a great opportunity to be part of a team who provides financial advice and guidance and creates impactful analysis to aid decision making. It is an ever-evolving area of the business and provides a fantastic opportunity to take ownership and have a real impact.

What you'll be doing
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts by interacting with our core finance systems and preparing/posting relevant accounting entries (e.g. accruals and prepayments)
2. Delivering a wide range of regular reporting to support stakeholder understanding and decision making
3. Providing analysis and insight on specific issues to inform decision making, support stakeholder queries and drive great customer outcomes
4. Ensuring adherence to all governance and control requirements for our processes
5. Support a variety of ad-hoc tasks including forecasting activities
About you
As a minimum requirement, you'll:
1. Have a willingness to commence or continue an accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
2. Have experience working in a Finance environment and can perform basic accounting processes
3. Have an analytical mindset with strong Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
4. Have experience working with data, ensuring accuracy, generating insight, and supporting recommendations
5. Have the ability to organise and prioritise competing tasks
6. Be able to build relationships and confidently communicate with other teams, to gather information and answer any questions.
