Role:
ONE Consulting is recruiting a Continuous Improvement Engineer on behalf of an international engineering and manufacturing organisation, based in Kent.
The CI Engineer will have responsibility for improvement and lean initiatives across the company, but with a focus on production and assembly operations. The role will involve identifying, analysing, improving, and embedding change to support the company’s operational excellence goals.
The role will involve developing close working relationships with a range of internal stakeholders and peers, from production and engineering, and more broadly across business and support functions.
The role is ideally suited to an engineer (flexible with discipline) who has experience of running improvement projects from identification to delivery. The position provides opportunity for role and career advancement with the company and is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to specialise in CI.
Candidates should have a good understanding of Lean, Six Sigma or similar methodologies, through to Green Belt. Opportunity to be sponsored to achieve Six Sigma Black Belt level is built into the role and can be achieved across a multitude of projects.
Ability to ‘make change work’ is essential, and so having excellent communication and the ability to lead a culture of continuous improvement through people is key to the role, in order to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and drive improvements across all areas of the business.
Objectives & Requirements:
* Process Improvement Initiatives: Analyse current processes to identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions that drive cost savings, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
* Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyse, and report key performance data (KPIs) to track improvement progress and impact. Provide insights to leadership through detailed reporting and presentations.
* Lean and Six Sigma Application: Apply Lean, Six Sigma (where applicable), and other continuous improvement methodologies to streamline workflows, reduce variability, and enhance process quality.
* Project Management: Lead and manage continuous improvement projects from inception to completion, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and goals are met. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
* Training and Mentoring: Provide training and guidance to team members on process improvement tools and methodologies. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by mentoring colleagues and championing best practices.
* Root Cause Analysis: Support root cause analysis to address issues in production, quality, or workflow, and implement corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
* Collaboration and Communication: Act as a liaison between various departments to ensure alignment on improvement goals and seamless implementation of changes.
* Documentation and Standardization: Maintain and support the development of documentation for new processes, policies, work instructions to ensure consistency and standardisation across the organisation.
Qualifications:
* Suitably qualified (HND/Degree/Masters) in an engineering or relatable business discipline.
* Lean / Sigma Certification.
Experience:
* Experience in a similar continuous improvement, process engineering, or quality improvement role (manufacturing experience preferred).
* Use of data analysis, process mapping and root cause analysis tools.
* Working with cross functional teams.
