Chris likes building with Lego, painting and drawing. He adores dogs, and playing handball is his favourite physical activity. Dom has boundless energy and enjoys sensory activities like playing with sand and water. He also likes setting up his train track and playing with his trains. Chris has a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition, and often enjoys solitary play. He is still developing his verbal communication and can become dysregulated during transitions. Dom also has a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition, as well as ADHD. Dom is mostly non-verbal, and he processes language as a Gestalt Language Processor (GLP). Dom can experience moments of frustration and dysregulation, and it can be hard to work out why. Dom is not yet toilet trained and will need help to reach this next milestone. Both boys need support with their ongoing learning and development. Both children are receiving occupational and art therapy and will be attending speech and language and play therapy soon. Overview of role: This is a busy and hands-on role, supporting two young and energetic boys with all aspects of their daily lives. Mum is looking for a new SEN Nanny/Manny to step in with confidence, knowledge and energy, to support her and her children, so that they can enjoy each day together. During term time, the boys will need collecting from the local school (5 min walk) and will sometimes attend a therapy session. They both love to spend time with friends, so the SEN Nanny/Manny will need to liaise with Chris’s 1-1 at school to find out who he has been playing with, and then arrange playdates with their parents. Support at home is a big part of this role. Both children need encouragement to expand their food palettes, and the SEN Nanny/Manny will be confident to slowly and mindfully introduce new foods, alongside safe foods, so the boys are eventually eating a more varied diet. Dom needs support with toilet training, so previous experience with this will be helpful. The SEN Nanny/Manny will support with the bath and bedtime routine. It can take quite a while for both boys to settle down to sleep at night, so someone with patience and a gentle approach to support this will be key. During the school holidays, there is more time to arrange day trips out, and the boys love to spend long days at Greenwich Park, soft play, or even further afield to Digger Land in Kent. The SEN Nanny/Manny will be proactive in arranging activities for the boys during school breaks. A cleaner is employed, so there are no housekeeping duties, though encouraging the boys to tidy up after themselves will support the development of their functional skills. Who this job would suit: This job will suit someone with lots of experience supporting children with Autistic Spectrum Condition. Someone bubbly, energetic and authoritative, who can step in and take charge, and offer continuous care to this loving family. What’s great about this job: This is a fantastic, long-term opportunity to support a family, and be part of the ongoing development of both children. Competitive rate for an experienced SEN Nanny/Manny. Who is recruiting for this role? Snap Care will be carrying out all recruitment including shortlisting, recruiter interviews and arranging employer interviews
