Job Description
This role is responsible for the comprehensive management of environmental compliance, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives for the site. This includes overseeing waste management, energy reporting, environmental permitting, packaging compliance, emissions monitoring, and contributing to the site's overall health and safety performance. The role requires a strong understanding of environmental regulations, ISO standards, and data management.
Overall Responsibilities
Waste Management:
* Maintain accurate records of waste generation, disposal, and recycling activities.
* Manage site waste registers and prepare monthly, annual, and ad-hoc waste reports (internal and external).
* Serve as the primary contact for waste disposal companies, negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance.
* Develop and implement new waste disposal routes as needed, optimizing cost-effectiveness and environmental impact.
* Ensure compliance with Duty of Care regulations and conduct related audits.
* Oversee site waste lay-down areas, ensuring proper storage and handling.
* Provide waste management training to site personnel.
Energy Management:
* Maintain site energy spreadsheets and records, tracking consumption and identifying opportunities for improvement.
* Prepare monthly, annual, and ad-hoc energy reports (internal and external).
* Manage climate change reporting and licensing requirements, including verification processes.
* Lead the ISO 50001 energy management system, ensuring its effective implementation and maintenance.
Environmental Management Systems:
* Maintain and update the site's environmental, occupational health and safety, and energy management systems.
* Conduct internal audits of management systems and legal compliance.
* Lead external ISO audits and manage resulting corrective actions.
* Manage data related to waste, emissions, energy, and water consumption.
Environmental Permitting and Compliance:
* Serve as the primary point of contact for the Environment Agency (EA) inspector.
* Prepare and submit all required reports to the EA, including quarterly and annual reports for water and air emissions.
* Manage variations to environmental permits as needed.
* Ensure compliance with all environmental permit conditions.
Packaging Compliance:
* Process and report data on all packaging brought into the UK market, including imported and exported packaging, to meet Innospec requirements.
* Manage 6-monthly reporting for Plastic Reporting (UK) and annual reporting requirements.
* Emissions Monitoring and Reporting:
* Process and report monthly sampling and emissions monitoring data from various sources.
* Prepare and submit quarterly and annual reports on water emissions to the EA.
* Prepare and submit annual reports on emissions to Corporate SHE.
Health and Safety Support:
* Serve as a member of the site SHE team, providing support to the Site SHE Officer/Admin.
* Assist with health and safety activities as needed, including risk assessments, report preparation, incident investigations, and providing advice to site teams.

Role Requirements
* Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, including waste management, permitting, and reporting requirements.
* Experience with specific industry regulations (e.g., chemical manufacturing).
* Experience with ISO 50001, ISO 14001 and other relevant management systems.
* NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
* Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
* Experience with environmental auditing.
