L3Harris in Bristol/Burgess Hill/Barrow provides enduring, robust and cutting-edge Integrated Platform Management Systems (IPMS) for the UK Royal Navy sub-surface and surface fleets, notably current Astute submarine and Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carriers, in-build Type 26 and Type 31 frigates.
The position is required to support Astute class submarines Internal Communication System (ICS) and Platform Management System (PMS) and required to conduct emergent defect rectification either within UK Ports or overseas, as well as conducting site-based system health checks at either Faslane or Devonport naval bases. In addition, supporting test events at Barrow-in-Furness site and in the process production of test and supporting documentation. The engineer is also required to support ICS and PMS SMEs in providing technical support to the MOD and Royal Navy Maintainers, diagnose and rectify defects out with technical scope of on-board maintainers. To provide ongoing training for all L3Harris personnel within the support structure in order to provide the broadest support for the vessels within the L3Harris support structure. To assist project management in the costing, scheduling and structure of additional contract scope, as well as support in the production of process and procedure for the support of the ICS and PMS.
Please note frequent travel is required in this role.

What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
* ICS/PMS Defect rectification and system health checks at vessels.
* Direct interface with the customer and vessel maintainers.
* Communication with 3rd party engineering support, both internal and external to L3Harris.
* Project Management interface for interface in completion of work breakdown structures and cost estimation for new and existing work scope.
* Support of Project Engineers and Functional Managers in maintaining SQEP within the overall support team.
What you’ll bring
The role requires the following experience and skills:
* Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience
* Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Field Service Engineer in Defense, specifically within the maritime domain
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
