Putting food quality front and centre, as the Quality Improvement lead, you’re in the driving seat in this hugely varied, project-led role.
If you’ve developed your food quality and technical career so far on the factory floor, you’ll know what to look for and the steps to take to investigate non-conformances and close gaps.
Equally, if you’ve developed your career in specifications, quality systems, and technical services, you know this is the engine room. On an unannounced audit a well-maintained QMS can mean the difference between an AA+ or an A.
So really, it doesn’t matter whether you’re currently on the factory floor or office based, as the Quality Improvement Manager, leading projects will see you networking right across the factory. You’ll know which questions to ask, without making colleagues feel they’re under the spotlight. You have a natural talent in building good relations, through a combination of warmth and clear communication. There’s no doubt, this role calls for charisma and influence, encouraging those around you to get on board and share information.
Leading on technical and quality projects will see you gathering information and building data, with the ability to identify trends and spot where improvements can be made. As a member of the HACCP team, you’ll be mentoring and coaching colleagues to drive and improve the site Food Safety & Quality culture. Also carrying out regular internal audits of the HACCP, GMP, QCP, QMS etc.
There’s a real sense of family at this site, although there’s the financial stability of being part of a larger group, you’ll find everyone is helpful and supportive. You’ll report into a central technical leader with a dotted line to the site Technical Manager, who encourages cross-functional collaboration and a one-team ethos.
This business looks after their employees, they understand the pressures of juggling work/life balance, so they’re open to discussion on flexibility around start/finish times and the possibility of hybrid working.
You must have the right to work in the UK.
