Currently, we have an excellent opportunity for a Deputy Ward Manager/Charge Nurse to join a dedicated team in providing exceptional care within a therapeutic environment. This role is ideal for someone passionate about leading and supporting a team to provide individualized care in a supportive and calming environment.
Salary: Up to £43,313 DOE
Position: Deputy Ward Manager/Charge Nurse
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Setting: Mental Health Inpatient Services – Bespoke Therapeutic Placement Unit
Location: Manchester, SK8
Your key responsibilities will be:
1. Provide senior nursing leadership to the team, ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment for patients.
2. Implement and monitor risk assessments, ensuring all statutory requirements are met and managed.
3. Supervise a defined group of team members, ensuring ongoing development and CPD activities.
4. Contribute to the recruitment, retention, and training of the ward team.
5. Act as a role model for a learning culture, supporting junior staff and students.
6. Lead and support the implementation of therapeutic interventions for patients, focusing on individual care.
7. Facilitate effective Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) working, ensuring collaborative care planning.
8. Undertake clinical supervision for nursing staff, maintaining high standards of practice.
9. Deputise for the Ward Manager when required, ensuring continuity of care and leadership.
10. Act as named nurse for a small group of patients, providing individualized support and care.
11. Engage in collaborative problem solving with patients, encouraging them to take ownership of issues.
12. Ensure all care is aligned with the values of dignity, respect, and the promotion of independence.
13. Monitor and review staffing levels, ensuring safe and appropriate skill mix within the team.
14. Contribute to the development of care plans, ensuring they reflect the needs and preferences of patients.
15. Ensure adherence to national, company, and local standards, policies, and procedures.
For this role, we’re looking for someone who has:
1. Active NMC registration with revalidation.
2. At least 18 months’ post-registration experience in a clinical specialty.
3. Experience in clinical supervision and training.
4. Excellent communication and team-working skills.
5. Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
