We are seeking two Senior Hardware Design Engineers to work at our client site in Rochester. We need team players who can use their initiative and passion for electronic engineering to realise the design of a backplane following all applicable client processes taking in work completed for concept and requirements capture to deliver a design suitable for manufacture.
Responsibilities
1. Build on requirements capture, concept design and prototype construction work to deliver detail design and implementation of the product backplane hardware module.
2. Work will be carried out in accordance with a tailored version of client work instruction, which in turn references DO-254.
3. Candidate will work to all relevant Codes of Practice (CoP), Hardware Development Plan (HDP), Plan for Hardware Aspects of Certification (P-HAC).
4. This work package will deliver the detail design, correlating to a tailored version of stages 3 and 4 of client design process and will provide schematics and associated documentation for transfer to manufacture.
Qualifications
1. BSc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
2. A lower-level qualification such as HNC would be acceptable with significant demonstrable relevant experience performing the same/similar work.
Essential Skills
1. Electronic Hardware Design.
2. Supporting analysis, documentation and planning activities (e.g. commissioning plan).
3. Support to PCB Layout.
4. Design for EMC Compliance.
5. Fully conversant with manufacturing techniques and capabilities, including design for manufacture and test.
6. Computer literate, Microsoft Windows, Office with particular emphasis on Word & Excel.
7. Great communication skills with ability to communicate at all levels of the business modifying the tone and message according to the audience.
Experience
1. Hardware Engineering within an Aerospace, automotive or defence or similar Environment, use of DOORS and Teamcenter.
2. Familiarity with CAD software used for Circuit Design and PCB layout (ideally Siemens Mentor suite).
3. Familiarity with use of simulation tools to aid circuit design and PCB layout.
4. Use of detailed design analysis tools.
5. At least 5 years' experience in digital or analogue electronics design within a structured development environment.
What do I need before I apply?
1. Candidate should be able/prepared to work at our client's site in Rochester Tue to Thurs every week, this may be relaxed to every other week if this cannot be achieved.
2. Existing SC clearance.
3. Due to security restrictions candidate shall be a UK national.
