The role of Safety, Health Environmental & Quality Manager is integral to the success and future proofing of Avena Environmental. This position requires a diligent, conscientious, and tenacious individual, with the person in role living our values and focused on supporting stakeholders, both internal and external, to secure the future of Avena and all that rely on it.
Key Responsibilities
General
* To have an active role in supporting the HoP with our ISO accreditation, H&S practices, Environmental obligations, GDPR, insurance policies and various positive objectives and project management.
* Developing a mindset of Service, Security, Sustainability and Safety.
* To support with the development and administration of our QHSE systems, audits and projects.
* To be able to communicate effectively with various stakeholders to ensure we operate effective partnerships and creating a positive culture of excellence.
* Support with the management of facilities and maintenance at our sites.
Quality
* To help maintain the systems we utilise to uphold standards of service quality via our ISO accreditation.
* Assist with the management of policies and documented process.
* To work closely with the Ops team to ensure depot plans, on the road plans, SSOW’s and processes are being adhered to.
* Understanding customer complaints; supporting investigation and analysis of root cause, administering non-conformance register and attending meetings.
* Liaising between our team and our insurers for incidents and claims such as vehicle accidents, renewals etc.
* Speaking to clients about their experiences with Avena; understanding concerns and identifying where there may be a need for us to review and renew our performance.
* Being aware of roles and responsibilities of our team in the customer journey; helping the business to meet expectations and managers to exceed these.
* Liaising with our commercial team and customers to support their requests for our compliance pack, managing any ad hoc requests for compliance information and supporting our sales team with compliance queries required for tenders and bids.
* Auditing our suppliers to ensure we are in receipt of up-to-date supplier information such as sub-contractor RAMS, insurances, waste documentation, licences etc.
Compliance
* Administration of our compliance documents, files, policies and online portal, including management of training delegation and matrix.
* Ensure fleet management including; trackers working, CCTV working, servicing and MOTs completed, repairs to vehicles, tyre maintenance, tacho audits etc.
* Being available to accompany external service providers in cases such as Risk Assessments, fire checks, H&S Audits.
* Managing our internal wardens for first aid and fire.
* Ensuring fire drills, fire plans and emergency lighting checks have been completed.
* Updating policies, processes and business continuity plan as necessary.
* Liaising with our insurers and repairs/maintenance partners.
* Administration of accreditations and associated documentation.
* Raising concerns to manager where we may have potential risk.
* Liaison with external compliance suppliers.
* Supporting HoP with audits and spot checks.
* Driver compliance using trackers and spot checking – ensuring our depot managers are aware of speeding and dangerous driving.
* Being responsible for the processes that keep us safe such as signing in books, accident and incident reporting, electrical equipment being PAT tested etc.
* Maintaining health and safety records for reporting purposes.
Environmental
* Administration of business licenses and waste compliance (such as operators license etc) – ensuring timely renewals and correct data on certification.
* Support and administration of our accreditations, assisting with the setting and monitoring of environmental objectives.
* Working with the SLT on project works offering positive sustainability outcomes for both internal and external beneficiaries.
In addition to the above, you will;
* Work closely with our internal teams, supporting QHSE/SHEQ queries.

* Having an awareness of business standards from a quality perspective and taking pride in what they deliver to customers, whether equipment, service, communication or resolutions.
* Raise POs in a timely manner in line with authorisation matrix.
* Adhere to all policies of the business to ensure compliance.
* Follow processes set out that are job specific.
* Support on ad hoc projects as necessary.
* Support our growth plan in Europe.
Skills / Attributes Required
Essential:
* Computer literate.
* Strong effective communication skills.
* Experience in a similar role and/or relevant qualification.
Desirable:
* Administration of accreditations.
* Auditing experience.
* IOSH/NEBOSH/QHSE qualifications/experience.
* WAMITAB qualified.
* GDPR/DPO experience.
Salary and Benefits
£35,000–£38,000 per annum, plus a car allowance of £300 per month.
