Band 2 Emergency Department Reception Clerk

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to apply for a position as band 2 Clerk/Receptionist within the Informatics & Patient Administration Directorate (Corporate). You will be based in our Emergency Department. There are several shifts available including days and evenings on a 4 on 4 off based non-negotiable rota; this includes working weekends and Bank Holidays including Christmas.
There are various vacancies:
1. 0900-1700 -- 26.25 hours per week
2. 1600-2200 -- 21.00 hours per week
3. 2130-0230 -- 17.5 hours per week
Please be aware that due to service need these hours are non-negotiable.
The role is situated in the Emergency Department reception at QEHB and will consist of a strong emphasis on data quality, customer care, taking a lead role in maintaining accurate data on the Trust electronic patient administration system PAS Oceano at all times. To be the first point of contact in welcoming and registering patients attending the Emergency Department. Provide full admin and clerical support to the departments' multidisciplinary team. Effective teamwork and a keen focus on the Trust's Vision & Values are essential.
Main duties of the job
Act as the main communication/registration point for all the patients and visitors presenting at QEHB Emergency Department and to undertake all the administrative and clerical duties to support the functioning of the department.
Ensure that all administration systems within these areas are maintained to a high standard.
KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: UHB staff
External: General Public, All Multi-disciplinary Team, Emergency Services staff, Other NHS Trusts, External Agencies
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Physical Effort - There is frequent requirement for sitting or standing in a restricted position for a substantial proportion of the working time.
Mental Effort - There is frequent requirement for concentration where the work pattern is unpredictable.
Emotional Effort - Frequent exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances.
Working Conditions - Requirement to use Visual Display Unit equipment more or less continuously on most days. Frequent exposure to unpleasant working conditions.
