Dr Mahbub's Surgery, Brace Street Health Centre (WS1 3PS), is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, committed and caring Medical Receptionist/Administrative Assistant to join our busy but friendly, single handed Practice. We are looking for an experienced Medical Receptionist to work 20 hours per week. The ideal candidate should have experience of working at a GP Practice. Salary is dependent on skills and experience.
Main duties of the job
To carry out a range ofreception and administrative tasks.
Receive, assist anddirect patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professionalin a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide generalassistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image topatients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
About us
Dr Mahbub's Surgery is a small single handed GP Practice, based at Brace Street Health Centre (WS1 3PS), providing primary care for Caldmore and the surrounding areas. We are in a purpose-built building offering a range of services in a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Dr Mahbub is the principal GP and runs the surgery along with one male and two female regular locum GPs, one female nurse and one female Health Care Assistant. We have between us enhanced skills in diabetes, asthma, minor operations and offer a range of disease management and health promotion clinics. Job responsibilities
· Ensure an effective and efficient receptionservice is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice.
· Acknowledge a patients arrival at the reception.
· Ensuring that the appointment system is runefficiently.
· Monitor the flow of patients to and fromconsulting rooms.
· Use clinical system EMIS Web for all patientrelated activities.
· Deal with all general enquiries, explainprocedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
· Receive and maketelephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracyof detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
· Participate on a daily basis in task managementand ensure that tasks are kept up-to-date at all times.
1. Sorting the mail.
· Scan letters.
· File records.
· Typeand send referral letters (including eRS and 2WW referrals).
· NHSmail – deal with incoming emails.
· Workflow– deal with incoming letters, discharge summaries, results etc.
· Interpreting,as and when required.
· Read/Snomedcoding.
· Summarisenew patient records.
· Medicationupdates – update new medications from hospital.
· Fusion(to look up results, clinic letters, A&E reports, discharge summaries).
· Enterrequests for home visits onto EMIS Web ensuring careful recording of allrelevant details and where necessary refer to Doctor.
2. Action repeat prescription requests/prescription queries and ensure that they are ready within 48 hours.
3. Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
4. Actively participate in Practice Training to ensure you provide a high level of service for the Practice.
5. Receive deliveries and put stock away.
6. Receive and handle specimens as per Practice protocol.
· Chaperoningduties.
7. Complete weekly stock checks.
8. Assist clinical staff in emergencies.
9. Adhere to Practice policies regarding security and confidentiality, records management roles and responsibilities and computer skills.
10. Keep reception areas clean and tidy.
Ensure filing cabinets, surgeries, offices and front door are locked ondeparture.

11. GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths, or equivalent.
