Position Summary: The Project Based STEM Coordinator (PBSC) has excellent organizational & leadership skills and demonstrates excellent communication in various settings and with a variety of school-based and professional university & community partners. Under the direct supervision of the School of Engineering Assistant Dean for Student Success, the PBSC will join the University of the Pacific’s & Stockton Unified School District’s collaboration to implement the Reach for the Stars STEM Academy (RFTSSA) for the summer of 2025 on the Stockton University of the Pacific campus.
* Program service areas and location: The RFTSSA serves students in the Stockton Unified School District.
* Academy Overview: Our STEM academies are academically intense, mathematics-based, summer enrichment programs designed for students who lack access to resources that would enable them to accelerate their learning and move into college preparatory coursework in high school.
* Academic goals: Develop and enhance skills in abstract & critical reasoning, problem solving through interpretation, making connections, explanation & demonstration, study techniques, technological skills, methods, and processes used to achieve goals and essential skills for college and career.
* Life goals: Designed to help students develop purpose through building leadership skills and increasing self-esteem/confidence via real-life application of solving practical-everyday problems.
* Student Profile - RFTSSA: Student participation in the RFTSSA is based on academic criteria. Recruitment starts while students are current 6th graders. Students in grades 7-12 participate in the Stockton academy.
* Program Design: The program, presented over the course of six summers, introduces students to progressively challenging STEM concepts at each returning grade level (rising 7th – rising 12th).
The Project Based STEM Coordinator will work directly with the Assistant Dean to build, expand, and improve academy program delivery into future years. The Coordinator will assist teachers with curriculum implementation and project development and work closely with the Lead teacher and other staff to deliver the daily curriculum.
Essential Functions:
* Support Tomorrow Project Administrator in all administrative functions of the academy.
* Assist and support current and new academies related to the Tomorrow Project.
* Provide staff development for teachers and teaching assistants regarding project-based curriculum development.
* Provide classroom instructional support as needed.
* Collaborate with teachers to reinforce curriculum implementation.
* Observe instructional methodologies and provide feedback to teachers.
* Support teachers in monitoring daily activities.
* Coordinate logistics for ordering classroom supplies and planning events.
* Maintain positive relationships with students and staff.
* Assist with program marketing and outreach.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree
* Valid Multiple Subject Credential, or Single Subject Mathematics, or Science teaching credential, or STEM certification.
* Ten (10) years of direct teaching experience in a public middle and/or high school setting.
* Five (5) years of coordinator/project management experience in a public middle and/or high school setting.

* Speak and understand Spanish.
* Experience with STEM-related educational tools.
Physical Requirements: Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking across campus, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Work Environment: Work is primarily performed in both office and academic environments, with occasional travel. Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends for program events.
Hiring Range: $67.00/hour.
