Main duties of the job

1. Proven clinical, leadership and managerial skills to shape and drive specialist physiotherapy delivery.
2. A collaborative approach engaging team members and others.
3. An aptitude to promote and maintain high standards of care through excellent communication, motivation, supervision, and support to develop team members.
4. The ability to provide professional and specialist advice to contribute to service development and implementation ensuring a needs led physiotherapy service based on best practice.
5. Be able to take part in the on call rota for the unit.

Job responsibilities
1. To effectively manage and coordinate Community Learning Disability Physiotherapy across Nottinghamshire.
2. To lead on the development and support of training and professional mentorship.
3. Collaborate and empower to ensure effective delivery of evidence-based practice by the physiotherapy team to people with an Intellectual Disability/Mental Health, their families, and carers.
4. Ensure compliance with national guidelines and legislation within the field of learning disabilities and Autism and the Physiotherapy profession, ensuring consistent delivery of best practice.
5. Proactively and effectively contribute to core Directorate operational and Governance agendas/meetings within the care unit.
6. Undertake workforce plan discussion with managers, staff recruitment, selection, retention, and training needs analysis of physiotherapists.
7. Ensure professional growth and skill development through managerial and professional supervision and appraisal of physiotherapist facilitating clinical supervision accordingly.
8. Facilitate and evaluate robust and high-quality clinical placements for learners.

Qualifications
* HCPC registered.
* Demonstrates Professional Development within their specialism.
* Management and Leadership Qualification and experience.
* Professional body registered.
Training
* Portfolio of relevant post registration CPD including specialist knowledge of IDD physiotherapy interventions and evaluation.
* Leadership training.
* Clinical educator.
* Relevant Masters modules or completed programmes in learning disability or autism specialisms.
Knowledge
* Highly specialist applied clinical knowledge as a physiotherapist.
* Knowledge of education of others and identification of training requirement.
* Applied knowledge of National policy and guidance and impact on local practice.
* Applied knowledge and understanding of current legislation and understanding of Clinical risk assessment.
* Highly specialist knowledge of how mental and physical health contribute to risk assessment and support management.
* Contributed to regional and national clinical projects and/or strategic work.

* Working experience of assessing and managing a complex caseload of adults with physiotherapy needs within specialist area of IDD.
* Knowledge of Risk Assessment and ability to ensure effective risk management strategies within specialism.
* Experience of effective multi-disciplinary/agency working and established interpersonal and negotiation skills.
* Experience of designing and delivering different learning and development opportunities for staff teams.
* Experience in developing evaluation/audit tools and resources as part of profession/multi-professional team.
* Experience of leading the clinical and professional development of physiotherapists including students.
* Experience of leading/managing project work.
* Experience of research, audit, service evaluation and/or quality improvement projects.
* Identifies clinical risks and carries out MDT/ Trust Risk assessments and formulation for individuals, groups or services highlighting needs.
* Experience of collaboration across teams, services, and other stakeholders outside of the Trust.
