An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the staff team of one of Britain’s most iconic landscapes. The successful candidate will carry out a wide range of practical tasks involved in helping to manage the Malvern Hills and Commons.
About us
The Malvern Hills Trust is a statutory body established by Act of Parliament in 1884 and a registered charity. The Trust manages most of the Malvern Hills and Commons landscape, totalling around 1200 ha, which includes Sites of Special Scientific Interest and several Scheduled Monuments. It also forms a large part of the Malvern Hills National Landscape.
The Trust protects and conserves the wildlife, habitats, geology, archaeology and other important features of the Hills and Commons whilst managing an increasing number of visitors.
The role
We’re looking to expand our ranger team and are recruiting a new team member to undertake regular patrol duties and practical tasks across all of the land managed by the Malvern Hills Trust.
Key activities will include:
1. Assisting and guiding members of the public, monitoring public use of the land (car parks, paths and open areas and public events) and compliance with the byelaws that apply.
2. Undertaking practical habitat and estate maintenance tasks.
3. Coordinating and leading volunteers.
4. Keeping the Hills and Commons free from litter, which includes bin emptying.
5. Caring for the landscape, wildlife, archaeological and important features of the Hills and Commons landscape.
