Location: Buttershaw, Bradford, hybrid working ( 1 office day a week – Bradford ), with regular regional travel across multiple sites
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

As Lead Commercial Surveyor you will be an integral part of the Estates Team in the Land and Property department at Yorkshire Water. Reporting directly into the Senior Estates Manager, you will be at the forefront of managing one of Yorkshire’s largest land holdings. Your workload will be incredibly varied from managing a diverse commercial estate and dealing with landlord and tenant matters, undertaking inspections to helping the team answer estate enquiries. In addition, you will be required to negotiate and agree new leases and lead on property acquisitions and disposals whilst also considering alternative uses for land. You will also be required to support with access and rights issues including land ownership and title queries, easements and wayleave requests. Regional travel will be required.

As our Lead Commercial Surveyor you will:
• Provide expert advice to Yorkshire Water on property acquisitions and disposals, Landlord/ Tenant issues and general estate matters in relation to the implementation of the company’s strategy
• Provide effective leadership and guidance on all property matters
• Undertake inspections of various types of land and property
• Responsible for supporting and managing estate enquiries
• Manage a team of surveyors and land officers
• Work closely and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to problem solve and to identify risks and opportunities across the estate
• Responsible for managing and reporting on income and expenditure
• Support the Senior Estates Manager to deliver financial targets and business strategy ensuring regular reporting and that annual and 5 yearly targets are achieved
• Mentor colleagues including supporting apprentice and graduate surveyors with their APC
What skills & qualifications you will need:
• MRICS qualified
• A demonstratable track record of managing estates, or similar, to a high standard
• Evidence of successfully delivering estates projects to time
• Experience visiting/ inspecting different types of land and property
• Excellent and demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety regulations
• People management experience
• Extensive knowledge and experience of the legal and regulatory requirements relating to the ownership, management, sale, purchase and leasing of land and property
• Extensive knowledge of regional property markets
• A track record of delivering results against challenging financial targets

• Ability to work autonomously whilst being a team player achieving wider corporate outcomes and targets
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Experience dealing with land access and rights
• Knowledge of the water industry and/ or experience working in a regulated environment
We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 1 day in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
