Location: We have an opportunity for a Fleet Capital Investment Manager to join the Fleet department at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?
The role is a flexible hybrid working arrangement and will be based at our Buttershaw site in Bradford, with an expectation that you will work 1 to 2 days in the office a week in Bradford where the team operates.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

The new Fleet Capital Investment Manager role at Yorkshire Water is to shape and deliver the company's fleet strategy, focusing on fleet capital investment for fleet needs.
As the Fleet Capital Investment Manager, you will oversee all capital investment for Yorkshire Water fleet needs, working within the fleet team whilst building strong and engaging relationships using Yorkshire Water Behaviours with all Yorkshire Water business units will be a crucial factor in the success of this role. Additionally, demonstrating project management excellence in coordinating the needs of Yorkshire Water with our contractors/suppliers to deliver the capital funding value in safe, efficient, and creative ways.
The key goal for the Fleet Capital Investment Manager will be to oversee all aspects relating to the vehicle replacement program (HGV, LCV, and Plant Equipment) to achieve a zero-emission fleet; additional capital replacement programs (non-vehicle) will be required to support this.
The role also involves providing technical support, managing asset refurbishment, and developing investment and budget responsibility to support Yorkshire Water's operational and environmental goals.

* Vehicle Specification and Deployment: Ensure vehicles meet operational requirements, safety standards, and considerations for vulnerable road users.
* Technical Support: Provide support to operational teams to maintain compliance, safety, and reliability of fleet-related systems.
* Asset Refurbishment: Oversee capital refurbishment activities for fleet assets using both internal and external resources.
* Risk-Based Planning: Develop plans for future vehicle replacements based on funding availability.
* Project and Technical Support: Support additional capital projects, alternative fueling needs, and vehicle innovation.
* Business Case Preparation: Prepare justifications for investments to facilitate effective business decisions and manage capital spend requirements.
* Collaboration: Work with relevant departments to replace commercial vehicles in line with company policies and support the transition to alternative fuel vehicles.
* Safety Standards: Identify and implement critical safety standards.
* Change Management: Ensure effective change processes across business areas.
* Investment Planning: Plan and coordinate critical asset investment projects to ensure compliance with maintenance policies, safety standards, and technical requirements.
* Efficiency in Vehicle Disposals: Coordinate and review vehicle disposals to maximize investment opportunities for future capital needs.
* Technology Assessment: Assess and validate new technologies and processes to expand business opportunities and improve vehicle safety systems.
* Deliver an electric vehicle charging infrastructure program to support electric vehicle transition.
What skills, experience & qualifications you will need:
* Strong technical and practical engineering skills, with a minimum HNC/HND level qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering).
* Previous experience in a project engineering role, demonstrating discipline and theory in managing complex projects within a relevant industry (e.g., process/chemical manufacturing, automotive manufacturing).
* Experience in finance management, particularly with capital programs, and proficiency with financial software and reporting.
* Competency in risk assessment and the generation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities to build and maintain relationships and collaborate with various stakeholders at different levels of seniority.
* Effective time management and prioritization skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
* Proficiency with all Microsoft office applications and systems relevant to fleet management.
* A full valid UK driving licence is required (with no more than 6 points).
