We are seeking an enthusiastic committed professional to join us as a Senior Teaching Assistant with pastoral responsibilities.
The successful candidate will:
1. Plan and deliver PSHE and individual pastoral sessions to students, as well as contribute to the delivery of PSHE/ SMSC across the school to support students with their personal, spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development.
2. Mentor, support, and inspire learners by assisting them with curriculum-based learning in the classroom, supporting the Teachers and Teaching Assistants inside and outside of the classroom.
3. Assist with the preparation of learning material and contribute to the delivery of learning objectives with a strong focus on behavioural management and emotional health assessment tools.
4. Provide daily reports on learners’ progress and barriers to learning.
5. Work collaboratively with members of SLT and the Student Support & Intervention Mentor to support students and their parents.
6. Support students with mental health difficulties and those displaying challenging behaviour.
7. Identify the needs of individuals and groups within the school, taking note of student passports, risk assessment plans, and the requirements of the SEND code of practice.
8. Work alongside the Pastoral Support Manager to develop personalised programmes and small group activities to support students with SEMHD.
9. Conduct vehicle safety checks; ensure vehicle check sheets are completed to the necessary standard by all staff using the vehicles.
10. Interact with parents/caregivers on a regular basis.
11. Create displays around the school from student input to foster an inclusive environment.
12. Ensure fire safety and first aid protocols are followed.
13. Ensure that daily consumables are stocked up and reordered when necessary.
Our ideal candidate will have:
1. A passion for championing students with SEND.
2. At least two years’ minimum experience working in a SEND environment.
3. Strong English and Maths skills.
4. A desire to support students outside of a mainstream environment.
5. A willingness to progress within the school and obtain career-focused professional qualifications.
6. An active contribution to school safeguarding and welfare procedures.
