Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated System Support Specialist to join our Systems Support team. In this role, you'll be part of a dynamic team supporting the operational needs of the trust by providing 2nd line system administration and back-office support for various clinical and non-clinical IT systems.
Main duties of the job
1. Act as the system lead for designated systems, collaborating with end users to optimize system configuration.
2. Handle system-related enquiries and issues through the Service Desk, adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLA).
3. Configure systems according to project requirements and change requests.
4. Provide expert support and advice to clinical and operational teams.
5. Ensure system data quality and compliance with national and local standards.
6. Lead and manage System Support Analysts.
7. Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota.
Person Specification
Qualifications
1. Educated to HND Computing, or A level or equivalent gained through specific relevant experience.
2. Evidence of own continuing professional development.
3. GCSE C grade or equivalent in English and Maths.
4. ITIL Foundation.
5. ECDL or NHS Elite.
Experience
1. Specialist knowledge of clinical and non-clinical systems and processes.
2. Good working knowledge of computer operating systems and software applications including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
3. Understanding of NHS business and clinical processes.
4. Understanding of NHS Policies and Strategies, including Data Protection and Security.
5. Experience in providing IT user support, system administration and configuration.
6. Experience of working in the NHS.
7. Experience of working in a project environment.
8. Working with staff to implement policies & procedures.
9. Ability to effectively translate data into simple reports or information to present to non-technical staff in a clear manner.
