We are looking for skilled bank perfusionists to join our team here at Nuffield Leeds Hospital as we recommence cardiac surgery this year. As a Perfusionist you will support the specialist clinical theatre team in the management of the clinical area. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action for theatres in emergency or unforeseen situations. There will be an on call commitment. Key Duties & Responsibilities •Provide specialist perfusion practice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. •Responsible for the perfusion service to patients, by being proactive in the blood conservation programme and Near Patient testing (TEG and interpretation of results). •To assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, actively seeking evidence based practice which will improve the quality of care and meet the needs of the patient. •Utilising resources effectively and responsible for patient parameters whilst on cardiopulmonary bypass with the administration of drugs within set guidelines. •Participate in staff education and development, as well as the business planning process, helping to identify areas for service development. •Identify areas where local audit is needed, conduct the audit and analyse the data with support. Key Skills and Experience •Accredited Perfusionist registered with the Society of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain & Ireland (SOPGI). •Extensive post graduate experience and competent in a wide range of perfusion techniques used in cardiac surgery. •Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well under pressure.
