Both the research and clinical programme will be supervised by Mr Haney Youssef. Co-supervision at the University of Birmingham and other collaborating institutions will be provided by a selected co-supervisory team. For further discussion about the nature of the research and clinical activity please contact Mr Haney Youssef and Ms Deepashree Bapu. *Good clinical skills and be competent at managing the acute surgical on-call under supervision of the on-call consultant *Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team *Enthusiasm and the ability to demonstrate independent thinking and problem solving This will consist of providing 1 in 8 General surgical on-call (under review to change to a 1 in 9 on call rota) and also cover for the CEPOD emergency theatre. There will be a expectation to deliver provide a weekly contribution to elective activity in the form of outpatients and/or theatre sessions when required. The remainder of time will be spent in clinical research. Clinical and on call sessions will be based at Good Hope Hospital. The appointed candidate will need to be flexible regarding their working pattern.
