* Trimley St Mary Primary School, Trimley St Mary, Felixstowe, Suffolk IP11 0ST
* MPR/UPR + SEN Allowance
* 0.6 FTE for the SENDCO role *
* Fixed Term Contract until 31 August 2026
* Reference: 7145
* Required from September 2025
* With an optional increase up to 1 FTE to include a teaching role.
Required from September 2025, (although a May half term start date would be considered for a handover) we are seeking to welcome a dedicated, highly competent and compassionate SENDCo to our thriving school.
Whilst the SENDCo role does not have any direct teaching responsibilities, for the right candidate, we would consider increasing the contract up to 1 FTE to include up to 2 teaching days.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, and being directly accountable to the Co-Headteachers, we require someone who can inspirationally lead and manage the SEND of the school’s pupils to ensure every pupil’s needs are met. This will include the overall responsibility and strategic development of the SEND policy, including oversight of the day-to-day operation, with the aim of raising all pupils’ attainment and achievement.
In this role, you will work closely with our Family Liaison and Attendance Officer and our dedicated Thrive and ELSA Practitioners. The ability to build effective relationships with pupils and their families will be essential. An experienced SENDCo with a proven track record and the NASENCo Award would be preferable, although training will be supported for the right candidate.
As an alternative designated safeguarding lead, you will support our safeguarding efforts, provide guidance and support to children and families facing personal challenges, and collaborate with staff and external agencies to deliver the highest standards of care.
You will:
* be deeply committed to ensuring all children are fully supported to achieve their best
* be experienced in working with children with a particular focus on supporting those with social, emotional and mental health needs
* have strong communication skills, forming positive relationships with children, parents and staff, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment
* always maintain high levels of confidentiality and professionalism
* be able to work closely with our Co-Headteachers and follow school policies
* actively seek opportunities to improve practice and stay updated with the latest educational trends and strategies to enhance the outcomes for all children
* create effective learning partnerships between school, pupils, families, the wider community and partnership agencies.
We will offer you:
* pupils who behave well and are thoughtful and considerate of others
* a welcoming and friendly team offering support and appropriate training to meet the needs of individual children
* a highly inclusive ethos which meets the needs of individual children within our setting
* a dedicated inclusion team including ELSA and Thrive Practitioners
* a vibrant school environment with a variety of resources both indoors and outdoors
* an extensive wellbeing scheme for all staff
* full training for National SENDCo award (if required).
