Machinist/Fitter We have a vacancy for a versatile & experienced Machinist / Fitter to work with us on the manufacturing of special purpose machinery and other bespoke engineering projects. Your job will involve working from technical drawings to manufacture parts for a wide range of machinery and equipment. This will primarily consist of turning, milling and grinding on the machinist side of things, as well as assisting on constructing sub-assemblies & finished machines. We are an OEM, so you'll get the chance to work independently and as a valued team member on unique equipment and machinery, as well as contribute on R & D projects. Our work primarily falls into the following categories: Special Purpose Machinery: Process automation, Testing and inspection equipment, Motor show displays, Industrial production lines, Jigs & fixtures, Powder Sieves & material handling systems, One-off machines. Research & Development: Concept invention, design, and validation; Full proof-of-concept prototyping. Repairs & Servicing: Mid-Anglia and non-Mid-Anglia machines, modifications and performance optimisation, part sourcing, legacy part creation. What you’ll be doing: Working from technical drawings to manufacture parts, and ensuring all is done in a safe and effective manner. Assisting with machine fitting and assembly. Using your engineering knowledge and technical insight to problem solve and fault find. Potentially installing machines on customer sites with the mechanical team, as well as undertaking service and repair work when necessary. Experienced in manual machining (turning, milling, grinding), able to use manual lathes and millers. Ability to read and work from schematics and technical drawings. Comfortable working with fellow engineers on projects and tasks, and working alone. Competent in the realms of time management, planning and prioritisation. Driving licence. Hardworking and professional, easy-going and friendly, self-motivated and you take pride in your work. Overall you set a great example to others. Would be advantageous, but not essential: Any CNC milling machine experience would be ideal. Any welding / fabrication or electrical experience would be amazing. Forklift licence. Interested in design, engineering, and making. Benefits: Full time or part time, permanent Salary: £25,000 to £40,000 Depending on experience Pro Rata 20 days holiday increasing with length of service, plus bank holidays and Christmas shutdown Pro Rata.
