Ocean Freight Export Coordinator - Basildon - Up to £33,000
My client is seeking a Sea Freight Operations Coordinator to join their Sea Freight Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing Sea Freight operations and ensuring smooth execution of Import, Export, and Cross Trade activities.
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 17:30 (One-hour unpaid lunch break)
Salary: Up to £33,000 per annum (dependent upon experience)
Responsibilities:
Assist the Team Leader and Sea Freight Manager with executing departmental duties, contributing to the company's vision for business development and profitability.
Support the team in the successful movement of Sea Freight products.
Ensure all Export, and Cross Trade activities are completed accurately and on time, with proper completion of Customs declaration forms.
Report any errors in customs declaration forms to the line manager and handle customs claims.
Complete all necessary declaration forms in accordance with regulations.
Ensure all operational activities and invoicing are completed on time.
Conduct weekly spot checks and verify that all required documents are in order.
Maintain and utilize the operational system efficiently.
Ensure correct duties and VAT are applied to invoices and manage the collection of outstanding payments.
Regularly communicate with clients, reporting new sales leads and handovers of shipments.
Assist in the creation and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Foster strong customer and inter-departmental relationships, providing feedback to the line manager.
Collaborate with credit control to follow up on late customer payments.
Communicate quotations and ensure they are recorded correctly in the system.
Contribute to improving customer workflow efficiencies in collaboration with the line manager.
Ensure approval of goods under deferment accounts before release via accounts or line manager.
Ensure timely generation and submission of reports to the line manager.
Accurately complete invoicing for exports and clients.
Procure Ocean Freight rates from shipping lines and co-loaders on a monthly basis.
Complete Deviation forms in line with GDP compliance.
Provide holiday and sickness cover as required.Requirements:
Previous experience in Exports is essential.
Experience with a UK based freight forwarder is required
Experience in road transport, logistics, or haulage is desirable but not essential.
Familiarity with the CDS system for both Imports and Exports.
